Whether he is or isn't, none of the LSU QB newbies are Mett, AJ included. Saw that versus Iowa. So get ready to see the next epic learning curve start to unfold as season 2014 opens in very hostile territory. Wisconsin is no Iowa.

In Houston? I doubt that territory will be hostile.

I think we can hand off a lot and get by Wisconsin and MSU. Hopefully (I have a lot of faith in Cameron) by the AU game we'll be 5-0 with competent and consistent QB play. Can't wait to see.

You do know that was sarcasm by some rather than support of Jennings, right?

One CC and NC ring would be good enough for me.

From this thread you guys are saying that Jennings passing game will be 5-20 yards. We won't be able to stretch the defense vertically. We will have zone read and or play action off the power running game like the bowl game. No clear cut opinion on Rettig. Harris can throw the deep ball but struggles with everything else. Got it.

We're saying that we are only a few games into Spring practice. There's a whole summer to go and usually people improve greatly over that time. Mett went from overthrowing it at the end of the 2012 season, to timing it almost right in the fall. It takes some time to get things right.

Wisconsin loses their entire front seven. We will run it down their throats. We'll have the next two games to "practice" our throwing. IMO, we shouldn't need it though.

Depends which Mett we are talking bout. The 2012 or the 2013 Mett. Cause the 2012 Mett had 12 TDs, 7 ints, completed 58%, and had a QB rating of 128.

I'm thinking Mett's 2012 stats are not beyond reach of Jennings.

Since when did Houston become hostile to LSU?

I agree. I think AU will be the first big test.

Jennings has bad footwork. He'll need to work on it before next year. If he can get his 5 step dropback right he will be the starter. Rettig has the best footwork of the 3 and like someone said earlier in the thread is just as mobile as Jennings is. If Hayden continues to improve on what he knows about the playbook then I think we will see a dual QB situation. Rettig is the real deal people.

Unfortunately Rettig is seldom mentioned when the LSU quarterbacks are mentioned. Only Jennings and Harris seem to be the ones being considered. One with limited and I do mean LIMITEd experience and one with none at all.

Quite a choice, eh?

Oops! My mistake. I've been thinking this game was being played up in Green Bay country.

Jennings has the football IQ and knows the offense.

This is why Jennings will start and why I think he'll be successful. He's a very good athlete and a good quarterback. But he has greatness in him and he won't stop working and learning until he is the best. Isn't that what everyone wants in their qb?

Does anybody see Darron Thomas in Jennings? The whole situation in Oregon feels like it. Harris is the Mariota (kid with tons of upside and a pro future). Darron ran that Oregon offense to perfection. He was one of the best I've ever seen with the read option and play action.

Thomas was no joke either as he took them to the National Championship as a first year starter and won the Rose Bowl the very next year. He missed the Colorado game in 2011 and still put up monster stats.

2010 222/361 2881yds 30 TDs 9 ints
98 atts 486yds 5 TDs

2011 211/339 2761yds 33 TDs 7 ints
56 atts 206yds 3 TDs

Sounds like LSU will be what it has been for the last 6 years, with exception of last year. A good team that could be great with solid QB.
