quote:if lsu calls fewer pass plays in the rz, then burrow doesn't even have the OPPORTUNITY to make a good throw. That would artificially reduce his td passes. Moreover, Haskins is asked to throw an inordinately higher number of high percentage passes which artificially inflates his completion %.
Because you're disregarding passing TDs because it's not totally on QB. Well so are all of the other stats you're using in your comparison

What if they call fewer pass plays period in the game from every spot on the field? Why is it just the redzone? What if one player doesn't have as good of an OL and has to run more than the other? Doesn't that affect the rushing stats the same way you're saying that the completion percentage would be affected?

Unless he's not a good QB. Again, the logic you're applying to redzone TDs can be applied to every individual QB statistic.

quote:already covered that. haskins was asked to throw more screens than pretty much everyone. he had more yardage from screens than any other p5 qb.

total passes
haskins - 496
burrow - 379
so haskins had significantly more opportunities than burrow yet, burrow still basically equaled haskins in completions of 25 yards or more.
quote:because that's where the vast majority of td passes happen, not outside the rz
Why is it just the redzone?
quote:yep. this was an advantage for haskins for sure.
What if one player doesn't have as good of an OL and has to run more than the other?
quote:absolutely. burrow's team didn't throw nearly as much so burrow didn't have the chance to equal haskins' completion %, yardage, td passes, etc.
Doesn't that affect the rushing stats the same way you're saying that the completion percentage would be affected?
quote:there's no question that throwing more often behind/near the l.o.s. is going to increase completion %, regardless of how good the qb is.
Unless he's not a good QB
quote:not exactly
