The cops are responsible for every bit of bad publicity that they get.
Seems communications and public information department need a house cleaning.

The fact that Hillar Moore was involved
Is this the same "Moore" who tried to turn a parking lot bar room fight in which everyone walked away from into two different felony charges only to have his own GJ refuse to vote out even one felony charge??

Moore even confirms the part about Collins refusing to be interviewed on the Thursday of the draft.
I am shocked Collins didn't want to be interviewed bout a murder on draft day in Chicago.

For all the hard working law enforcement officers this is a slap to the face. If you don't like what you see then do something about it like support much higher pay scales and demand higher education with all new applicants. It is obvious police officers are under attack all though the country right now and maybe it is time to address how we compensate officers of the law. Right now I do not believe we attracting the best applicants due to low pay and poor image police officer's now have. Really who wants to risk their life every day for a very low pay to protect the very people who look down on them
It has been defended in court, but police are allowed to lie.

What abso-fricking-lutely blows my mind is that BRPD and tRantt has criticized La'el all along because BRPD supposedly hadn't heard anything from him or his people till the story broke nationally, but that article clearly states that agent Darren Jones contacted BRPD that Saturday (within 24 hours of the murder) and then Boren contacted them again on Monday.
If true, this necessarily means that BRPD has publicly misrepresented Collins by saying that they hadn't received any contact from him.

quote:It's pretty common knowledge that the NFL, both the league itself and each individual team, have extensive investigative abilities. A lot of former FBI agents are employed, as well as other such types.
There were several reports that said the leaks came from the NFL side. Do you dispute that?
Are you seriously trying to draw that distinction?
The leaks TO the NFL, not from it, were what cost La'el (and his agent) millions.
How EXACTLY do you think the NFL acquired that information?
This is a multi-billion dollar industry, and the draft is about hiring new employees (players) who will receive multi-million dollar contracts. You better believe the NFL will find out everything they can about potential prospects, especially in light of all the recent scandals. They probably know what brand of toilet paper he buys, how much, and how often he buys it. They likely know how much he tips at various restaurants.
The NFL doesn't care about innocent vs guilty, they worry about protecting their industry. La'el Collins is not a transcendent, once in a generation talent, he's a good offensive line prospect. There are plenty of those available who did not have the misfortune of being tied up (even indirectly) into a murder investigation.
The timing sucked for him, but that is because the murder happened at a bad time for his circumstances. You can't fault him for lawyering up (anyone with resources and common sense would do that), the police for looking at him (there was at least superficial perception of possible motive), or the NFL for blacklisting him (they would be fools to NOT avoid yet another scandal).
It couldn't have worked out any other way; if there was any perception that the PD rushed to clear him, then there would be a bigger cloud over this (why did they go out of their way for him? Was there a pay-out? Are they covering something up?). As it is, he's now ok, and his situation will be forgotten.

The war on drugs... you should contact your representatives about or vote different ones in. Some people seem to think police make the laws.
Oh and not all police hate families but I guess grouping everyone together is convenient for the police haters...

Apparently you weren't aware who was all up in arms fighting the Marijuana legalization bill a month or so ago. The La sheriff's association and the private prison industry were leading the charge against it

Yea and a bunch of citizens are against legalization too. Everyone has an opinion. Not sure how your post refutes mine other than to show that there are police officers who are not for legalization. They don't make the laws.
