He was on Culotta this morning and said he has heard that LSU doesn’t want to go the A&M, Bama, and even Florida route on spending $15M a year on NIL. He said they have a plan and will have real money and not proposes on how high or how much to each player but instead have something set in place that is competitive. My guess is they will spend the top dollar on certain recruits they really want instead of the majority of the class like A&M and Bama is doing.

Let's be REAL Clear. Aggy didn't do what they did with that last class because of NIL so let's just stop right there.

I want to care, but I just don’t. It is what it is. If we don’t pay enough and we start to lose then frick it. NIL is out of control.

Exactly. Think about the situation A&M put themselves in now. They have to hit on every single one of those recruit and then keep them happy or they will transfer out to the highest bidder. The people footing the bill for this shite aren't just going to become a bottomless pit of cash. They're going to eventually want some kind of ROI.

What's going on right now is not sustainable.

Jimbo has even said that he wants the government involved to regulate NIL.

I originally thought that these guys would be doing commercials, be on billboards, sign on autographs etc. to make money. But this has turned into straight paying kids to come to your school.

I think A&M has them locked into multi-year contracts or they have to pay the money back.

I agree, I just don't see how NIL doesn't have a correction at some point in time. I don't see rich and powerful men spending money like that year after year on every recruiting class that comes up.

I've wondered how that much money going to an 18 year old changes the trajectory of their college career. I know some will continue to want to be great and make more money in the NFL. I also know that early money will be the downfall of some as well.

Then I hope we’re ok with finishing in 3rd place in the west every year

Love this if true. I heard they have been trying to figure out ways to incentivize NIL deals with performance on the field. Similar to NFL contracts of base earnings with the chance of more.

This is what NIL was supposed to be and why it was a good idea and I believe every person deserves this right.

This is what the adults in the room have turned it into. It’s not the player’s fault adults are giving them money to play a game.

No doubt. Giving 18yo’s and their impoverished families money when they have never learned how to handle wealth will be a disaster for some people. I gotta believe the work ethic and discipline falter a bit when these guys are carrying around 100x the amount of money they’ve ever seen.

College football doesn't exist as we know it anymore.

I'm so out of fricks to give because of NIL. At this point, I'll be happy if we have a good program, with good kids, and win more than we lose. I'm ok not paying kids millions of dollars to play a college sport.

FIFY. They dont have the financial backing of these other schools. They have decent pockets but noyt like alot of these universities. And LSU going woke didnt help this.

Exactly!
However they are fools if they think that they aren’t going to have to pony up that kind of money to be competitive. There are exceptions to the rule as far as star talent, but it will be a bidding war. If LSU is content on collecting the scraps after the other schools have cherry picked then good fricking luck!

You see it in the NFL every year when guys get paid. No doubt you’ll see it all over college football. Hell, you saw it last year with Rattler and Uiageleli. This thing is going to correct itself. Reckless spending for recruits can not last. The poaching of players on rosters by other schools is the biggest problem.

What happens when you lose a couple of 100k a year players to injury? Pissing money away needlessly. Drug test failures, etc. This whole NIL thing is crazy.

If this is true then LSU is done winning championships.

If the teams we play every year are going all in then we need to as well

Y’all can say the current model isn’t sustainable all you want but LSU is falling behind every day.
