Great job in a horrible circumstance and smooth af on the play at the plate.

Have we ever had SS/P at LSU? Next years Sunday guy and prime position player? Let’s do this

There are very few of these at this level. Coaches really don’t like moving their SS. They’ll do it if forced, but if Guidry wins the SS job, they’re gonna give everybody else a chance to secure all the pen roles.

Especially closer. Think about how many long throws a SS makes throughout a game. Not just the 2-4 they probably average to 1st on actual plays, but all the throws over there between innings. I just don’t think bringing a guy in who’s been on his feet for 3 hours and has thrown 25+ times from short to 1st is ideal as late inning guy. And he still has to hit and run bases if the game doesn’t end when he’s done.

But I agree, he was a huge bright spot this weekend. Maybe THE brightest spot. Kid’s got balls, and that plays.

He's going to be a stud next year.

I expect he is going to continue to be used as a pitcher going into the future. He has too good of stuff to not use him.

He'll come from short to relief.

JJ did it with Bobby Dalbec a few years ago.

Jordy Mercer did a Ss relief combo at OK state.

Yeah, I was joking a little bit about the dual role, I think he’s full-time shortstop next year.

That said, I did not know JJ had done it before, would be pretty wild.

I wouldn’t be opposed to Guidry getting a shot as the Sunday starter.

I really hope he can hit .300 for the year and be a position player. He’s smooth out there and obviously has a great arm for an infielder. Plenty of swag too and could be a bad arse SS.
(If he can get the bat working)

I think he should stick with pitching. He has a very long way to go if he wants to be the SS next year, he was terrible at the plate in team scrimmages this year and wasn’t exactly clean at SS. I see JJ going into the portal and grabbing a top SS for next years team.

Incorrect. Most talents at this level show as a freshman. The increase in ability is very minute at this level.

I was at the game. Body language told me the Tigers were beaten early on. Tanks really stunk it up at third. Our defense sucked. The big difference in the game was that Allbarn threw strikes and caught everything hit at them, especially in the outfield. Stanfield was amazing. Met his parents. Good folks. My grand nephew is #11, Gavin Miller. He plays behind Ware so he rides the bench most of the time but his day will come.

Yeah everyone keeps saying he will be the short stop next year but I don’t see that happening. You’ve gotta hit to play. Jay will bring in a proven middle infielder from the portal for that role.

From the article in Tiger Rant: "·LSU freshman right-hander Gavin Guidry made three appearances on the mound last week, including his first career start at Southeastern Louisiana on Tuesday night … Guidry earned the win at Southeastern, working 2.1 scoreless innings with no hits, one walk and four strikeouts … Guidry made two appearances on the Auburn series over the weekend, and he fired a career-high 3.1 innings in Sunday’s game, allowing one earned run on two hits with one walk and four strikeouts … for the entire week, Guidry pitched 6.0 innings and allowed one earned run on two hits with three walks and nine strikeouts".

He's still a lock to be the SS next season.
