You hit the nail on the head. Thanks to being able to redshirt Brennan this year, by the time he is expected to be the starter, he will have three full seasons under his belt, some of it actually during game times. This type of experience doesn't exist when you constantly change quarterbacks or constantly rely on freshmen or sophomores to lead your offense. LSU has been stuck in the latter state for quite some time and is only now escaping from it. Brennan looks fine to me but also could use a few pounds if he expects to last.

He's got a year to work on his game.

This thread is negative speculation.

Brennan only ever cut the mustard as a backup for Etling. He has no place on the improved Tiger offenses of the future, hopefully directed by a man not named Ensminger (Emzinger).

The only way Brennan starts at LSU is if the starter gets hurt...unless he can put on 20lbs in the next year.

Myles Brennan is proof that LSU strength and conditioning does not include AAS/HGH.

Looking back on him as a HS prospect, knowing he's going to an SEC school, it was reasonable to expect that he would need 2-3 years to be ready to start.

Brennan will likely go into the 2020 season with an edge over the competition for the starting job. It will be up to him to maintain that edge.

That does change a bit if LSU takes a transfer from another school onto its roster.

This. The dude will never play if he doesn't put on at least 20 more pounds by the time Burrow's time is up

All you who say LSU didn't "develop" QBs in the past. Well, first of all those coaches are gone. Les Miles and Cam Cameron were responsible for the QBs.

Second, LSU had a couple of BAD QBs in Jordan Jefferson and the absolutely horrible Brandon Harris. Both were in fact NOT SEC quality and LSU won in spite of them not because of them. You can't develop what isn't there.

Brandon Harris transferred to UNC and many of the Rantards swore he would finally get to show his stuff at UNC under Larry Fedora. In reality, Harris ended up on the bench after several poor performances and was beaten out by a Freshman.

This past year at LSU many Rantards (most who don't know shite about football) were pumping up yet another QB which Miles left us in the Jefferson/Harris
mold. This was Lowell Narcisse. Narcisse left for Miss. Gulf Coast JC
where he started the season as the starter but by mid-season was on the damn bench. Narcisse just accepted a schollie from UTSA. Lucky to get that.

The point is bad recruiting at QB caused the problems at QB. It wasn't lack of QB development because the QB talent wasn't there to begin with.

It seems that Matt Flynn and Mettenberger did OK. We need to credit Orgeron for acknowledging that he needed a QB and he went and got Burrow.

Myles Brennan is talented but was not ready to take over. He will now have time to develop physically and mentally instead of being rushed into service.

Contrary to some comments on this board
Brennan played against solid competition in High School and lit it up. He deserves an opportunity and will get it.

Brennan will start his 4th and 5th year in the program. You are delusional to think one of our QB recruits will come in as a true freshman and beat that dude out.

Well that just shows how little you actually know about the qb position in general and about Brennan specifically.. how is at that 80%+ of most college players in any position get redshirted his first year and don’t really flourish until their RSso year or their 4-5 years. That’s at any position, we’re talking about a QB in the SEC West. Brennan agreed to be redshirted this year and did not cut and run.. his time is coming just like the vast majority of QBs that come into this league.. Brennan is the real deal and will make believers of all his critics before he is done at LSU.. on the subject of being to small and not heavy enough.. ugh, Jared Goff says hello

From what I understand O doesn’t feel Brennan has become physically mature enough to play QB in the SEC. in other words, he needs to bulk up a bit.

I agree. He might get one year, but Parrish is good man. I have a good feeling about him. Didn't have a good feeling about Brennan when he was recruited.
