@ebosshoops: In coaching staff news, assistant Robert Kirby has left Georgetown and is now at LSU. Could they make a late run at Devonta Pollard?

If true, Johnny deserves major accolades. Kirby was Mississippi State's top recruiter for years and is huge in Mississippi. Lead recruiter on 5-star Pollard, who is uncommitted. Kirby is one of the top recruiters in the country.

By one minute. Damn the luck! Ha ha. Huge hire. Pollard had supposedly said if State hired Kirby as head coach, he would go there.

Lots of talent in Mississippi, though. So we've got Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi covered. That should work.

I see Johnny's strategy in play. Lock down Louisiana, but there is not enough elite talent in state. Cherry pick Texas and Mississippi, along with an occasional national player. And boom.

Now I want to see if Leonard is the admin and there is a spot for Livingston, or maybe Mike Sanders.

Georgetown bio

Robert Kirby joined the Georgetown men's basketball program as an assistant coach in June 2010.

Kirby, who has more than 26 years experience in coaching, spent the past 12 seasons as an assistant coach at Mississippi State.

A native of Memphis, Tenn., Kirby returned to Mississippi State in 1998 after spending five seasons (1994-98) as an assistant coach at the University of Houston. Prior to coaching at Houston, Kirby had served from 1990-93 as an assistant coach at Mississippi State, and before that he was an assistant coach at Southeastern Louisiana University (1988-89) and at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (1985- 88). He began his full time coaching career as an assistant at Arkansas College in 1984.

A two-year basketball letterwinner and 1983 graduate of Pan American University (now known as the University of Texas-Pan American) in Edinburg, Texas, Kirby was a starting forward on the 1980-81 Bronc club that earned a berth in the National Invitation Tournament after recording a regular season upset win over the eventual NCAA Champion Indiana Hoosiers. He went on to average 12.4 points and 7.0 rebounds per game as a senior before serving one season as a student assistant coach at his alma mater.

Kirby began his collegiate playing career at Three Rivers Community College in Poplar Bluff, Mo., where he helped lead the Raiders to the 1978-79 national championship as a freshman and a fifth-place national team finish the following season.
