These are college kids, not 14 year old kids. I don't think it's a good thing that they broke curfew, but it's not "severe". It should be handled as mentioned, bear crawls (or similar) til they puke and some administrative action NOT a suspension of playing time.

FWIW - Alot of the baseball players regularly skipped curfew while in Omaha winning national titles under Skip. And they weren't out watching movies.
Don't bring shite like this up. This country (especially the south) is teaming with self-righteous pricks.

I think coach is and should be upset with members of the Unity Council who were in violation of team rules.Any member on the council who participated should be removed. The Unity council should only have members who demonstrate leadership and the ability to follow rules and be a positive example for other players through their actions.

Its pretty disrespectful IMO
Sir, when I was an active Marine I had several occasions to break the rules in a similar fashion. Not a wise choice, but I want to assure you that at no time did I ever lose respect for the United States Marine corps or my superiors.
I am assuming that you were never a participant in any sililar situation. I congratlate you on your virtue.

I wasn't going to go there on him, but do appreciate your candor

I can assure you that they lost some respect for you.

Because the leadership didn't remember doing the exact same shite 10 years earlier.
ETA: You people and your myths about the military fricking kill me. Maybe we do need broader participation by the general public.

Not that I noticed.
In fact after one particularily vigorous encounted with a group of Rangers, we seemed to have earned a little more respect.
However that didn't lessen the severity of the punishment for the initial violation.
Again, since it is apparent that you haven't had a similar experience, I congratulate you on your virtue as well.

When I was an active duty navy corpsman, and my buddies wanted to sneak out of the barracks through the window the night before graduation, I told them that graduating was more important than sneaking out.
Guess I had my priorities straight?
There were plenty of instances for curfew breaking though. Overseas, we had a midnight curfew in foreign ports. If you broke curfew, you got in trouble. I just always made sure I was in before midnight. And whoever my liberty buddy was too. Plenty of times I saw people come back without their liberty buddy and their leadership waiting at the quarterdeck asked where they were.

Or you were one boring shipmate.
Next you will tell us that you never broke any of the rules? If true I stand in awe of your dedication and purity.

Since you also don't know what you're talking about. The fact that I come from a military family, and that pretty much to the man we resented being awoken to deal with immature behavior as this at 1:30 am. The disrespect for our personal time usually was reflected on promotional decisions.
You understand that don't you, lance corporal?

Maybe you had your priorities straight...maybe you were "that dude" (the other, less cool one) who couldn't get laid and routinely snitched on people.
I'm just shooting the shite. I don't know you.

Not at all.
But I was always in a position of leadership since I was 18 years old and led by example. If I couldn't follow the rules, how could I expect anyone else around me to?

Honor courage commitment... Guess those values are a joke to you?

Getting out of a dorm the day prior to a light day, I have no problem with.....he'll getting out and having a good time builds chemistry.
The curfew, the drinking, meh.
The reports of violence. Serious stuff.

Find it interesting that those supporting JJ are also the same badmouthing you about holding fast to the ideals of you organization.
Opens your eyes a bit, huh?

Another reason.
I guess I just didn't act like a child when I was enlisted
Having to stand duty medical watch, I was turned off by the drunken baffoonery that I observed from those that came into medical bleeding and wasted.

Jesus, man. You're killing me. I know many guys who never had a hanging IP that weren't worth a damn, and I know men who carried those values on their shoulders who didn't always walk within the lines.
Study your Naval History. Call up some of your old Chiefs and ask them what kind of shite they got into. When we reached the leadership phase at OCS as Candidate Officers, our DIs (USMC Gunnys) told us what a bunch of pussies we were for never pulling anything.
