His Independence football team came to play Winnsboro High School in a playoff game in Winnsboro my senior year. He was literally Unstoppable, straight up the middle for 220 yards or so, never even had to use the Juke button once, just too damn strong to bring down, battering ram style

That team came to play our baseball team my freshman year in the playoffs. He was either in center or right and if there was a pop fly you had no chance. Dude ran like the damn wind and had a strong arm. They dominated us that game.

Dude was a freight train in High school. He ran over so many guys that by the second half of games you could see defenders purposely taking bad angles or slowing down to avoid the contact.

FIFY: he was also a pretty good baseball player in HS

Played against him in high school. We hit that guy in the backfield probably 8-10 times and NEVER brought him down. Not once. One of our DE literally broke down in tears on the sideline.

They took him out at halftime.

Thanks for reply’s guys. Did Saban recruit him?

No, Toe was class of 99, recruited by Dinardo but redshirted and didn’t play until 2000, Saban’s first year.

Unfortunately tore his ACL in the SECCG against Tennessee. I don’t think he was ever the same after that. Surgery didn’t quite have the results back then that they do today. He was just a couple of years too early.

He was always a big guy and played big in the NFL, but didn’t have near the quickness or acceleration as he did in 01 imo. Still hung around as a pro for four or five years.

That was actually his 2nd ACL year on his left knee. He also tore it in high school. That is the reason he redshirted. Guy was a unreal before the high school ACL year. Good afterward l, but never the same.

He was jukey for a big back, and a hard runner after contact. Split time with Dom Davis and still had over 2000 yards for a career.

I’m pretty sure he set the SEC single season rushing td record while at LSU so he Was most likely still as good after the high school injury

A healthy left knee and he would have had a better NFL career than Joe Adai. Pre injury—similar hands and cutting, but Toe had better power and home run speed. Post injury, he could cut off of the right leg, but not the left. Rarely could jump cut in the hole and def a step slower. Despite all of that I think he set the TD record for RB’s in 2000 or 2001.

Awkward pro career. Would have thought he would have been way more successful and in the league a lot longer

His uncle (maybe cousin?) Michael Toefield played at Independence in the late 80s and it was said he was in his early to mid 20s as a Senior LOL.

Dude was amazing and would run over everyone. He was dumber than dirt though. I think he scored in the single digits on his ACT and never got into college.
