you could make the arguement kevin faulk saved the program. our recent success makes some forget how truly bad we were under hallman. TS half full for conference games, USM and colorado state celebrating like they won the super bowl, and no offensive talent at all

if dinardo doesnt land faulk, we dont win nearly as much in in 95,96 as we did

No single player takes this.

MANY loved LSU more than anything.

As far as performance at LSU (NOT THE NFL), way too many to single out. Cannon, Faulk, Reed, Tittle, Jones, Alexander, Dorsey, Andolsek, Faneca, etc.

Andolsek was lightyears ahead of James. Guy played with a ferocity unmatched by anyone. BUT Glen Dorsey's intensity was damn close.

Anybody ever remember Big E's purple pick-up truck?

Bradie James' 154 tackles his senior says he is the best IMO. Brooks was more of a pass rusher and yes I am old enough to remember him at LSU and Ruston.

Right about Faulk's impact. The rest is apples and oranges. I would say that Michael Clayton was the next step in the ascendancy of the program.

Kevin Faulk was the ultimate Tiger in the late 90s.

I think Clayton & Spears should be equally credited.

Agreed on Spears. I didn't get into how Clayton's commitment got Spears on board.

Man, I used to love watching the #7/#11 combo at linebacker. Those guys gave it everything they had. I'm pretty sure that T. Faulk was the first sophomore ever to be voted team captain and Bradie ended up being one of LSU's all-time great leaders after Faulk left. Both of those guys had some serious fight in them.

People don't realize that T. Faulk played MLB at LSU at around only 215 pounds and he routinely knocked the piss out of people. And I'll never forget when Bradie leveled Tyler Watts of bamma and when Watts got up his helmet was on his head sideways and he was staring out of his ear hole. You never saw RB's drag those guys 3-5 yards.

Brooks is one of my all time favorites. Eric Hill and George Bevan are two more that that stood out in their day.

He has heart whereas guys like Rohan, Kevin Faulk, Marquise Hill, etc. recently just had talent. Duh.

It's really annoying that people say Hester has heart because he was a white guy who was playing over guys who deserved it more. That doesn't mean he had heart; it means our coaches were stubbon.

It is not because he is white, it's because he succeeded with little talent according to you and the other talent scouts.

He succeeded because he was on the fricking field the whole damn time because of Les playing favorites. There's no logical reason for them to bench Keiland or Chuck after they busted a 15 yard run every time.

And it is because he's white. A lot of poster boys for fans (Tebow, Hansborough, Hester) are always said to be "hard workers" or "full of heart" or "great motors" and crap like that. Honestly, how often do you hear people consistently say this about black players?

It was said a lot about Dorsey, James and many others.
