The talking heads starting to realize this LSU team is not going away:

Lunardi

Bracket Matrix

Consensus has LSU on the 2 line.

I can envision Elite 8 with the Lunardi bracket..but then we would face Baylor. But anything is possible.

But then Baylor would have to face us. Don't forget we beat them before the season started albeit a scrimmage. I'm not counting this team out against anyone.

I’m not saying I think we can’t or won’t beat them..I’m just saying we’re paired up with the #1 team in the elite 8. We have the best defense in the country..which means we can beat anybody.

Hopefully the same can be said for our fans.

The attendance has been solid this year. But it is time for the casual basketball fan to start showing up consistently. Some might say 1:00 pm is a funky start time. But hey, you get your morning duties out of the way, and you still have your afternoon open starting at 3:00-ish.

Crowd energy can fuel victories in basketball more than in any other sport. Get out and support these guys! The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow (Final Four) is 70 miles down the road

Wade said yesterday there are less than 500 tickets left. Looking online this morning, there are just a few singles left down low and a couple sections left with tickets in the upper sections. Looks like there will be a great crowd again.

1pm is a great time. Go grab early lunch, sit and watch Wade kick arse at PMAC, then go home and play with the kids

That’s great and LSU has never gotten a 2 seed in history I believe. I think the 3 seed a couple years ago was there highest ever if I remember. The next two weeks will be huge for seeding (especially next week at Tenn and at Kentucky). Arkansas is better than they have shown lately but lsu should handle them and Texas A&M and TCU aren’t cupcakes. If they make it solidly through those February should be a great month until 3 of the last 4 games and I’m not too worried about those.

LSU has been a #1 seed, but its been more than 40 years ago.

1981 - 1 Seed in the MW Regional.

ETA - also a 1 seed in the MW Regional in 1980.

People forget where Dale had this program at that time. He's done some things lately I could do without, but no doubt he took this program to the very top levels.

Don’t like that second round match up with UConn either. They’re auburns only loss so far

Dale still has more wins vs KY than any other coach in the country before or since.

You do know it is January 14th, right? The projected teams and matchups in the "bracket" will change 200 times before the actual bracket is set in March.

Right now this is just a snapshot of where teams sit relative to each other. There is still 1/2 a season left to play.

I stand corrected. I misread something. I don’t remember that season, I was too young. I am sure I watched games before the 1986 semifinal but that game against Louisville is the first game I still remember watching. I can still remember the living room and the old tube tv I watched it on. Honestly after that I can’t picture another game until the shaq, jackson, Roberts season when I was in jr high.

Damn. If only he could coach a tenth as good as he recruited we might have actually won something in March
