I don't think Romero's play made much of a difference. 6,7,8 was on deck. Reid, Wofford, Paps. I highly doubt we get through those three guys without getting out.

Bullshite. Wafford is the only one of those who I wouldn't trust at the plate. But things happen.

Id imagine Morrison was coming out if Romero stays at first bc of his pitch count. And one more arm into their not so deep pen, anything can happen.

IKR, why question the working ways of the rally. Things were happening in our favor and we walk ourselves out the inning.

Yup who knows what happens. Say that guy coming in is off his game. He walks one batter and we are one swing away from tying it.

Not likely, but we'll never know.

Tonight was a classic example of how to work counts and take what the pitcher gives you by Coastal Carolina. This LSU team struggles to do that. Tell me the last time you have seen Fraley, Kramer, or anyone other than Diechmann drive a ball the other way. You can't.

This team has 18 innings to get there,, but is far from a contender in Omaha with their current approach at the plate

The signature Andy Cannizaro over aggressive at the plate is both a blessing and a curse. Works when you catch the first pitch fastball for a gapper, fails when you lazily pop up a change up on the first pitch you see. I think Reid, Kramer, Fraley, Duplantis, Freeman and sometimes Pap do a pretty good job working counts, Jordan's have been popping out or grounding out on first pitch and it kills the rally. If you take Bryce's HBP out his OBP is nothing.

Pitch selection is my biggest concern. We are just swinging at junk for the most part.

My take is Romero wants out of LSU quickly, seriously I cannot really blame him. He has more production per at bat than any hitter on the team and it isn't really that close.

You play hard 100% of the time regardless of your personal situation.

Do yall think that one good thing from last night was that their stud closer threw 60+ pitches? I am hoping he isn't available tonight and won't be affective if he is. Looked like we started to get to him a bit after seeing him for a couple innings.

Yes - LSU's hitting is definitely an asset. Kudos to the hitting coach "however you spell his last name"

Reid and Duplantis are the kings of working the count for this team. Fraley, Freeman and Kramer sometimes do sometimes dont. Pap swings at everything. Jordans are trying to lift everything.

Has anyone yet figured out why he yanked Bugg?

Hell if you ever let him extend it's there right?

CPM/Dunn looks like they have a plan for pitching. Its seems they like to throw Bugg and Reynolds after Poche. Maybe the style change confuses the batters but they seem to be similar pitchers to each other so I dont really know.

They did well against CC's best two pitchers and hopefully burned both for the weekend but I doubt they wouldn't hesitate to use them both Monday if needed The fact that a coach of 20+ years allowed the AA closer to pitch 3 innings with the score differential tells me that CC is very happy with their first victory in five tries.....ever in the Supers, and their first chance in what, six years.

This. I was depressed looking forward until this. Looks good going forward now. I was surprised the CC coaches left their star closer in the game that long with a possible 2 more games looming. especially with the lead they had. I guess this is where things like reputation and Rally Possums make their mark. The opposing coaches are so afraid of LSUs late rallies that they think no lead is safe. So that works for LSU in a multi-game series where the opposing team burns through their pitchers trying to preserve even large leads. That works unless the opposing team team has a really deep bullpen ala FLorida and even so we all know how that turned out for FL. LSUs Rally Possum puts a lot of pressure on teams.
