Against Bama, it's one thing to point to the protection issues. It's very true that running 5-6 man protection schemes and being unable to give your QB time is a recipe for disaster.

But to be honest when you are throwing into a 7 man zone-based pass defense with pattern matching, you aren't going to see many open receivers when you're only sending 3.5 out into a route (I'm counting the TE who chips as a half a receiver as we couldn't protect enough to have his route develop before we got flushed).

You've got to put pressure on zone coverage and it's a matchup zone. Basketball on grass. You aren't going to win many pick-up games when it's 3 vs 7 and they're running a matchup zone.

That's not athletes. That's scheme. Yes you will need your 5 Lineman to hold up against the rush which we did not do. But even if they did, you're still not sending enough kids out against that secondary to get it done through the air.

Just my $0.02...But scheme is absolutely an issue. Even if we had the horses, we aren't running a winning one against an elite Defense like that.

And you ever notice that we do just fine (yeah not always great) against other defenses that are not Alabama's?
uh, we're 103 out of 129 teams in the nation in yards per game. Only two SEC teams are worse (Kentucky and Tennessee).

That's not "just fine." It's awful.

“ we do just fine”

Our offense has been mediocre to bad all season. Nine games in, it’s our worst scoring offense in over a decade. It’s even worse than the OC we fired 10 months ago was able to produce. We have been winning, for the most part, in spite of our offense. That something that LSU football has been doing for a number of years. Personally, I’ve become pretty damn frustrated over it.

Hopefully, our O can get it act to gather in the next three games all which should be fairly easy wins.

If you cannot go into an SEC game with two weeks to prepare and have every possible scenario covered with our QB and offense then you have failed as a HC. Im not calling him a failure, but him basically saying, "Welp they did something different, so all of our creativity went out the window."

It's like he doesn't know that it's the other team's job to surprise you. You should expect to be surprised and already be thinking about ways you can execute if plan A doesn't work.

That's his job to be prepared for all scenarios. Complete waste of two weeks of preparation.

A&M will not be an easy win.

Sheldon Mickle’s of BR’s The Advocate notes that LSU is in last place in the SEC with the fewest TD’s in the red zone and that Arkansas with their new head coach is not far behind. Even in LSU’s 36 point explosion against Ga, during eight trips in the red zone LSU managed only 3 TD’s.

Last in the SEC is nothing. We're second to last in the country in this category.

Aranda can change defensive schemes when it’s not working in a game but Ensminger can’t with his offense. No plan B or C.

A high school OC understands the need to be able to adjust the scheme to mitigate your own weaknesses and to take advantage of those of your opponent. Why Ensminger either can't or won't do that is unacceptable.

None. Once the opposing DC catches on, we're toast.

Cole Tracy has been great for the tigers, but its as if Coach O and Ensminger value the field goal more than touchdowns when they get into the redzone.
