Saw a t shirt that said on the front "Water covers 3/4 of the Earth's surface". On the back it said "Patrick Peterson covers the rest"

That sounds like a pretty sweet shirt.
As far as making tshirts, I'm pretty sure as long as you're not using LSU logos or fonts, PP images, and his actual name then you're ok. In other words "PP7 for Heisman" in like an Arial font would be perfectly legal.
I'm actually waiting for stores like Storyville to get these shirts printed up.

fricking right!
I was in there the other day and didn't see any. I'm sure they'll be in high demand.

Thats going to be trouble. Just so all of you know befor you start making shirts. While the tshirt thing is a great way to get a movement going, theres just a TON of redtape to go through. The Heisman image and the term "Heisman" itself are property of the Heisman trust and they'll send a cease and desist notice because you're profiting off the name "Heisman". The same is the case for putting Peterson on a shirt. The NCAA will have a problem with someone profiting off the name of a NCAA athlete which is why people have gotten cease and desists from LSU.
Just do a quick google search and you'll figure it out quick. People at Michigan got shite from the heisman trust for making a Ringer for Heisman shirt as well as Cincinnati fans for a Pike for Heisman. Also, it could effect his eligibility to be a candidate for the award.

I know the basics of the rules, but not the details, thus would a gold shirt designed to look similar to a gold jersey with a 7 on it and instead of Peterson on the back says Heisman be a violation of the rules?
Just wondering
ETA: It appears my question was just answered above me, dang
BTW, hope CBS and the rest of the national media sees this, if we start getting some photos & video of signs & such, try sending them to ESPN and whatnot via twitter maybe

You could put
He-is-man on the back

I am thinking we should all get tattoos that say "Patrick Peterson 4 Heisman"
There couldn't be a better way to show our support. Imagine if CBS scanned through the crowd and everyone was showing off their tattoos that say "PP7 4 Heisman" or have a big Peterson in the Heisman pose on their chest.
Let's get this going. Who on here is a tattoo artist?

Nope. That falls under "likelihood of confusion." I was just reading that an apparel company made a Heisman shirt and got a cease and desist from the Heisman trust. So he changed the shirt to say "HE IS the MAN" and the trust filed suit against him.

how about....
I hope the guy who wears #7 for the purple and gold team wins the big individual award at the end of the season.

the Varsity needs to do it on their marquee.

Ok so there's no trade mark on the number 7, or PP7, so how bout a shirt that goes with the theme of PP7 to the "H" power, ya know like 100 to the 10th power equation would look. If enough of these got made you would think the media would comment on them and have to explain what they mean. Just trying to think outside the legal box of the NCAA.

Well then why doesn't the fricking Heisman or LSU release "OFFICIAL" candidate Tshirts to sell?
Trademarking shite and not letting anyone make their own creative shirts.

Sure they do. They let the big money companies have the rights to make "creative" shirts. Or at least thats what they'll tell you. Reebok and companies like that have the exclusive rights to make Heisman related shirts....which are usually generic as hell.
