I was thinking 11-1 with Sugar Bowl birth and claim it all next year, but I seriously like your optimism
I also think that S. Carolina should win the E divison next year. Not too much they have to do to be better, but Florida I just feel will take a step, maybe 4 steps back.

I love the optimism of this thread.

I have been calling this match up for a while now.
I disagree about losing to Florida, if we go down it will be to Auburn or Arkansas but we'll still win the West, then beat USCe in Atlanta.
Final result is same as it ever was!
Geaux Tigers!!

I see Florida losing a few just due to the lack of experience at QB. It cannot be overstated how important experience at the QB position is. Just look at our QB problems in 08.
Its not exactly the same situation though. It's a qb that got to wait his turn. (just look at bama last year). (( though he was never the guy to win the game)). Floridas problem is not just a new qb but replacing a pretty much all their top players.

Yeah I agree with you I was just saying.
We should all be aware of how significantly preseason media hype is based on the outcome of the previous season, regardless of what players a school loses and how much that will realistically affect the team. The media just focuses on last year's negatives and assumes that will automatically carry over to this season.
Those of us that actually follow LSU football know how likely improvements will be. Which is why this thread is a good thread

The more I think about this team, the more I realize how good we could be this year.
We finally have experience at QB, which is huge. The o-line should be significantly improved. We have a very solid group of running backs; Ridley, Murphy, and Ford should all be very good. We have potentially one of the best receiving corps (I feel Shepard could have a huge year) in the country and potentially one of the best secondaries in the country. The d-line should be better and we have one of the best linebackers in the country. Throw in, IMO, the best kicker in the SEC and we've got ourselves a complete team.
This all adds up to what should be a great season. I expect 10+ wins.

I got really excited about Murph this year when I found this little tidbit on an article I saw yesterday about Locke from Kentucky
Murph could do big things if he gets the leading role or is used just like Shep.
quote:
Locke averaged 4.7 yards per carry last year en route to rushing for 905 yards and six touchdowns.
Those stats were amassed coming off of a torn ACL and MCL in 2008. With even more time removed from that severe injury, Locke should post even better numbers in 2010.
Locke also averaged 27.8 yards on kick returns, in addition to collecting 31 receptions last season.

Exactly! People act like 10 wins is some kind of unattainable, mythical number for LSU simply based on the previous 2 seasons. It's not even a matter of opinion. Everything you just said is fact. JJ is more experienced. Our RB are solid. You can't say enough about how athletic and talented our receivers are. What's even better when considering that is that 2 of our best receivers are just sophomores, which means every game in which they participate this season is going to make them even better next year.
Of course I can't wait for this year. What's sort of pathetic to me is how negative people are and how reluctant they are to enjoy this whole experience. These last weeks leading up to football are almost the best part of it.
It's like a little kid waiting for Christmas. So much anticipation and excitement. I am so looking forward to the season. It must suck to be a negatiger and not know what that feels like. I wonder if those same people as kids said "well Santa has consistently shown issues with developing elf toy making talent so this Christmas is going to suck". Stupid analogy but whatever
I'm just saying I'm excited as ever for football and I just wish everyone would lighten up and be that way too

Agreed
Will Murphy be back there with PP7 on kickoffs?

Naw, I don't think we go that far but I could see a lot of screens and dumpoffs with him. Shep and him on running the option play, a few draw plays. I mean he seems like a less athletic version of Shep, but in no way is that dissing him.
