I don’T Think you’re going to find anyone who disagrees with you.

I'm not sure where this myth about him being a great recruiter came from maybe in his USC days when Pete Carroll was running things. He finishes second too many times in head to head battles for elite athletes to be considered elite. LSU is a big-time gig with unbelievable resources, coach O should have a top 5 class every year, and then following a national title should easily be first or second if he is truly elite. Coach O is a good recruiter but he has way too many holes in this roster after 4 years on the job. Linebackers, O-line, secondary, even the D-line is way too thin at this stage for a defending national champion. If you want to know what an elite recruiter looks like how about the Ohio State coach, they haven't won jack in a long time, and yet their entire roster stacked. That is how you build sustainability, good recruiting year after year, and not hoping that next year will be the year that all the depth problems will be answered.

The problem is he doesn’t want to keep having to search for assistants every season. Which is why he keeps trying to push older fellas who would stay here forever. Like E and Pelini. He wants substainabulity on staff over repeatedly looking for up and comers
I don’t think any coach wants constant churn at coordinator. Look at Saban. He hired Kiffin who was a castoff, failure of a head coach needing a career reboot. Same with Sark, cast off alcoholic trying to reinvent his career. Neither of those guys were going to be gone in less than 3 years.
But yea, Orgeron has to be able to make elite hires and then install those systems. So far, Canada and Pelini in two major hires vs Ensminger/Brady so I’d say he’s 1-2.

When I have car trouble I call my dad. I'm not a mechanic. When O has a question he calls Pete Carroll. He's not a head football coach.
