Oregon hired Dan lanning who is 39 right now after 3 years of being Georgia’s DC. Young, energetic, related to players, and a ton of NIL money has opened the door for a hire like Blake baker at a big school

Lanning was smart and waited for that top-tier offer to come. You have to know he got several smaller ones before that and passed.

That kind of offer is probably a year or two away for Baker.

Meanwhile this defense still is susceptible to somewhat bad play at times where he looks like he has no clue or answer for

There is no bottom to the well of stupidity that is this fanbase.

I would bet so much money that there is nothing in his contract about a HCIW role.

No one does those formally anymore. It’s been a while since anyone has.

You probably said the same thing about Aranda. I think Baker is a good DC and who knows, he may become a great HC one day, but LSU isn't the place for a coach to get their first HC gig at. I understand most of these post are more about BK than Baker, though.

Aranda wasn’t just a mediocre recruiter. He didn’t care about recruiting. He wanted to go somewhere that allowed him to be low-key, which means he would never have been a fit here.

I know NIL and the portal have changed things in a way that could make a guy like him more successful, but he just doesn’t seem to be cut out to be a consistently good P4 coach. As smart and analytical as he is, there is more involved in being a top tier head coach.

Baker doesn’t seem to have any of those deficiencies. He’s got the personality to recruit, deal with boosters and the media, etc. I think it’s safe to say he’s intelligent, as Saban is constantly praising how multiple his defense and how he attacks offenses. I’m going to take his opinion on Baker over anyone else’s.

None of that is a guarantee Baker would be a fit here, but it wasn’t for Lanning, either. It wasn’t for Ryan Day before that. In this era, having a smart younger head coach who you know can run a side of the ball paired with NIL can be VERY effective.

Maybe Penn State will go for Kiffin. Would love to see that smug piece of shite leave the SEC.

He probably gets a look from them and from UF if they pull the trigger. And they will be more likely to pull that trigger now that such a big job is on the market and Napier has another loss.

I'm not going to do that because I don't think we need to fire Kelly right now.

Sorry, I'm just not an effeminate pussy like most of this board that is melting after a win.

I could see Ole Miss having interest in Sumrall which would open Tulane.

Tulane would be the only G5 I think Baker might consider since he’s an alum. But most top P4 coordinators aren’t stepping down to the G5 anymore over waiting for a P4 gig to come along.

This place is really circling the drain lately. Imagine what Men's BB season will be like
