Was it really that great? I know it was IMPORTANT, but it's pretty overrated in my opinion. Todd Kinchen had a better effort.

Given the circumstances of the game (#1 vs #3), and the fact that he broke about 7 or 8 tackles, yes, it was that great.

He took it on a bounce and broke the tackles of ten players.

WTF do you want?

But LSU was not # 1 and playing the # 3 ranked team at the time either.

Cannon broke tackles.
From what I remember Kinchen broke 1 tackle then just outran everyone

Sorry you can't understand something that is in black & white and not digitally remastered or in HD......

You guys are so easy.

The Cannon run is one of my top 5 plays ever. And yes, it was great. Probably not as great if it were two 5-5 teams, but I get it.

Thanks for the entertainment. Nighty night.

Looked like more to do with poor tackling, than a fantasic run.

At this point I have to question whether it was even real.

It never ceases to amaze me this continued worship of Billy Cannon A CONVICTED CRIMINAL. The run obviusly was memorable but that does not forgive his counterfiting..

You young guys have no concept of how much of a freak Cannnon was in his day. I ran track against him in high school. He won what would now be the 5A state title in the 100 and shot on the same day. There was one player (offensive lineman) bigger than him on the 58 team and he ran the hundred in 9.8. He ran over 6 players on that punt return.
