3) Losing Ryan Perrilloux after '07 The reverberations of this are felt to this very day. How so you ask. Let me 'splain. In all of Les's asst coaching hires, the one outlier is Crowton. Why would Les ever hire him as OC is a mystery. His reputation was playing wide-open on offense. And it worked to perfection in '07. If you want to watch magic on offense go back and watch the Va Tech or tOSU games in '07. And it was to get better with Ryan in '08. But Perrilloux is dismissed and we start '08 with Andrew Hatch and RS Fr Jarrett Lee. Hatch would get injured and it was all on JL as defending national champions. You know the story. After '08, Les installed restrictor plates on Crowton and from which he (Les) would go to his Tiger grave with. If Ryan plays in '08, we likely still lose to UF and maybe OM (they were a force in late '08). And if so, Les has no need to go into a shell on offense. And if he doesn't we would probably have NCs in '11 and '12. And Les would still be coaching here

One of the great missed opportunities, not discussed here much, is the failure to get Terry Bradshaw admitted into school here.
Knowing many of his contemporaries who did get into LSU at the time, somebody screwed up....

Perilloux is the biggest, IMHO. He has jinxed us since. I wish Colt McCoy would have stayed.
we did go 12-0 after him

I think beating Alabama in Tuscaloosa in 2011 changed the trajectory of both LSU and bama. Think about it. Up to that time people were still thinking Miles was as good as Saban. Miles was fresh off a championship in 07, sabans was in 09, so saban had 2, but one was with LSU so it was all good.
In that game both teams were loaded with NFL players and played ultra conservative on offense. Lsu pulled it out and this did 2 important things-1. it showed saban he would have to change. Look at their offense in the championship game a month later. Opened up throwing and kept on until the game was in hand. Then saban went on to upgrade OCs from then on to up tempo , more balanced offenses, has paid off over the last 7 years. I believe saban has even mentioned that game as a turning point in his philosophy.
2. It convinced Les Miles that his conservative offense would work. He never changed from that point on it was ball control and defense and that is what eventually killed his careeer, taking LSU down with him.

Game of the century indeed.

2) Losing Pat Henry to A&M after '04 Henry was a natty producing machine. Shaver has done ok since but nowhere near what Henry accomplished. For example, under Henry we won 10 straight women's outdoor NCAA titles. We've won once ('08) since - and no men's titles. A&M has won 4 men and 4 women's outdoor under Henry. I like Skip. But he whiffed big time on this.

Maybe 1 in 100,000 sports fans even know this...and way less even care.

1) losing Mark Emmert, so we could hire Skip as AD.

Excepting 2012 LSU threw more passes than Bama, and 2013 had more pass yards you might be on to something.
This is right up there with the "post 2008 shutdown" narrative that is also undone by '12 and '13.

Miles lacked a QB 2014 and 2015, his fault, but still he threw about as much or more than Saban when he had a decent QB.

Non-revenue sport. It made sense to not pay him the money.

Randy Livingston and Ronnie Henderson. The duo could have led LSU to a national title.

I knew somebody would bring up 2013 passing. But if you actually look at the style it was still run, run, pass on 3rd down. We were just reeeeally good converting those 3rd downs. I think we led the nation or close to it. And mostly because we had a ton of 3rd down opportunities because of conservative play calling on 1st and 2nd downs. So that kept drives alive and added to passing yards. But I think anyone would agree with the talent we had, should have been MUCH more passing that season.

Anyway it's just a theory.

It's cool. You're correct on 2013 mostly was super efficient.
The 2 games with highest att were losses.

2012 was actually more in line with '00, '02, and '04-0'6 passing years all around 350 att range.

1) Hiring Mike Archer instead of Steve Spurrier in '87.

You are living a pipe dream fantasy, you better check all my post on what is happening in LSU football at the time, the depth chart, prop 48 and what it did to football in the south and Louisiana.

Steve gets to Florida near the time the effects of prop 48 are over in 1990, teaching and coaching corrected by then to cover the short comings on grades.

Bill did not have LSU near the level you think and you better check out the starters on his teams and Archers first.

Bill did not like to recruit and that is a fact of life, Archer was our go to guy covering for Bill.

You will find many post on this subject.

You were practically fapping over what you thought were facts a few posts up, and now that you know the facts, don't care.

Not sure what you are talking about... But I NEVER dispute facts...

No reason too... BUT its when someone goes OVERBOARD with the same shite over and over and over because it fits their agenda I DO have a problem with it...
