Does anyone know how that situation is coming along. Seems like he missed all of camp. Is he gonna miss the opener? Is this an injury that will hamper him all season and keep him out of important games.

He participated in the scrimmage Saturday. I’ve read he has an old knee injury that flares up occasionally so they manage it with intermittent rest. Supposedly his weight is good they’re just trying to keep it that way and keep tread on the tires so he can rotate situationally during the season. Aranda doesn’t play a NT on every down so the goal is to have him ready to go when called on.

Yes, and no.

It's a nagging injury that they'll have to manage all season.

The "injury" is lingering problems from a surgery back in high school. Basically, he can only play a limited amount before it flares up and he cant go much anymore. I think they are limiting him as much as possible this fall practice to save the reps for the games. They already know what kind of player he is when on the field, dominant player - gotta save the reps that count.

My guess is that Rougaroux and/or Shelvin will be among the annual "surprises" on opening day who are suspended for "violation of team rules". This is a trend among players who come to campus after struggling to get eligible during recruitment.

Go to class. Study hard, kids.

A surgery gone bad has affected him and probably always will. I don’t expect him to every be an every down type NT. Shame because he has great talent

Whoever raised you fricked up somewhere down the line. How the hell do you make this kind of assumption when neither kid has been in trouble since being here? Go frick yourself! Besides, did your remedial arse even go to class?

That is either a reference to Ed Alexander or the Cajun pronunciation for the French term for werewolf aka loup-garou.

I thought Lawrence's nickname was Rougaroux, not Alexander

Nah.

quote:

“That Rougarou!” Gilmore exclaimed to a confused group of reporters Saturday. “His nickname, the Rougarou. Ed Alexander. Big Ed, dog. First off all, he’s my roommate, and he snores a lot. He’s a great kid and wants to learn. Big dude. I think he’s going to be a great guy, especially at the nose tackle position.”
