re: BH "still just a true sophomore QB"

Why is it that Clemson can get this kind of production very early from highly recruited QBs ... and at LSU, the party line seems to be that we need to protect young QBs from mistakes and such and not unleash them? Heck ...Watson ... "only a SOPH" (written a lot of times on this board recently)...is being mentioned in the Heisman conversation.
Maybe a better question would be: If Clemson's so good at developing QBs and whatnot, why do they never compete for national championships?
IDK. Maybe there's more to the story than you're letting on?

LSU > Clemson. For a reason. I don't want LSU to be like Clemson.

Also, to me, this argument is just the wrong argument to have. Harris is developing at a decent pace. He's capable of running more of the offense than last year for sure. I'm sure he needs to continue to develop.
But, that doesn't explain what we saw on Saturday. That wasn't a reasonable game plan for where Harris currently is from a development standpoint. That was over the top conservative. We don't need to go crazy throwing the ball. We do need to be semi-balanced. If we did that, and Harris played well, we'd see an LSU offense that would be every bit as good as the spread offenses across the country without the defensive negatives that come with having a spread offense.

I was specifically trying to compare Clemson/LSU and Watson/Harris.
Which we're all saying is fricking stupid because the systems are drastically different and competition is different.
Clemsons system is much easier to run for a young inexperienced QB and they play ahittier competition (especially on defense).

I've never heard commentators reinforce a player (regardless of position) being a "true" sophomore more than during our game with Mississippi State - they said it - almost every time they did color commentary about Harris.
It was beyond the "Herman Johnson was the largest baby ever born in Louisiana" kind of thing. Not sure why it irked me.

Our offense next year will be nothing short of amazing to watch

Because it is unnecessary? It used to just be that people said true freshmen, redshirt [class], or [class]. The only qualifier needed for players that weren't freshment was redshirt. Now people obsess with calling people "true" whatevers. Since the redshirt is basically dead at major programs, I'm not sure why the change.

You're probably right - I think that making distinctions between true freshmen, redshirt freshmen and 5th year seniors are the only meaningful distinctions.
It is probably because he is a quarterback, and everything has to be hyperanalyzed. But, still...

Watson doesn't have Leonard Fournette on his team.

No matter how we try to explain the differences in pro-style and spread offenses, some folks just don't want to comprehend. LSU should sling the ball all around the field because that's what the majority of fans see on Saturdays.
I don't need to see TCU or Baylor.
I think most of us would simply settle for a pass every now and then on 1st or 2nd down ... maybe a little play action now and then.
Right now, no opponent defense has to do much guessing as to what will happen on 1st or 2nd down.
If we're not going to pass and simply pretend we have some bad-arse pro-style offense ... we need to just get Ken Niumatololo or Paul Johnson to come in so we can dominate via the triple option. Works for Navy.

They will probably shite the bed like usual ... but, given that Louisville may not be as strong as predicted, ND lost Zaire for the season, and FSU is vulnerable ... this is probably the best chance they'll have to make some noise.

I never said that. Nothing close to it. I didn't even infer it.
But, since you brought it up ... unless you don't remember, we let fricking Clemson beat us in a bowl game a few years ago. I haven't been able to forget because I get reminded all the damn time.

the announcers hinted at this the other night
Harris HS offense was nothing like LSUs offense, so the learning curve was much higher
I thought Jarvis Landry said it best awhile back when he said that going from the SEC to the NFL, while challenging, was MUCH easier when compared to going from Lutcher High School to the SEC. I know we play freshman, and it helps with recruiting, but it is very challenging to play and play at a high level as a true freshman in the SEC.
I know Brandon Harris personally. He is a GREAT kid, very intelligent, hard worker, and just needed time. He plays by far the toughest position on the field, and being the starting QB at a school like LSU is a BIG task. I was VERY impressed at how he looked Saturday night. Forget the stats, to me he looked confident, at ease, poised, and ready to do whatever it took to lead us to victory. I thought he threw some absolute dimes when he did throw, and his legs extended some drives for us as well.
I cannot wait to see what Coach Cameron can do with him and continue his climb to greatness!

Harris having a full year under him, buga being a junior, Dupre being a junior, Diarse being a junior, Quinn, and then Guice and Brosette having a year in

If a kid redshirts ... then can he leave after SOPH year?
