Anyone think of a fair way to determine which SEC athletic programs was the most successful program of this decade? Granted we might want to wait and see who wins the SEC or BCS this year but where do things stand at this point?
Hey Chris Warner here's an idea for a column dude!

A weighted analysis judging division wins, championships, graduates, revenue, attendance, etc.

Interesting...I was just thinking of championships...but adding in fanbase and academics....how bout we keep academics out at this point and keep it to on the field/court/track production.

Why Florida??

i think you're stupid. 2 basketball championships is a lot more impressive than 2 baseball chamionships.

I'd have to give the advantage to Florida considering they have four combined national championships in the two most popular college sports. Having said that, LSU has had a very strong showing this decade and have nothing to be ashamed of!

I think that would be your opinion. Baseball is much more important to me and I'm sure a bunch of others.

Let's look at more than just the big 3 (basketball, baseball and football).....track, tennis, golf, softball, womens basketball...I think LSU looks alot stronger than first thought

everyone will say florida solely because their basketball team has more exposure than our baseball team. also, our track team has done better than theirs, and our basketball team hasn't exactly been terrible. to put it in perspective, florida's basketball team has 3 elite eight appearances in this decade, whereas our baseball team has 5 cws (or elite eight) appearances in the same time span.

Nationally speaking basketball and baseball aren't even comparable in terms of popularity.

Very true. College baseball is still pretty much a regional sport. Just like college ice hockey.

UF - two BCS, 2 Basketball
LSU - two BCS, 1 Final 4, 1 Baseball

IMO,
BCS = 5 pts
basketball = 3 pts
BAseball = 1 pts

Clearly UF would get the nod

Exactly, and there's nothing wrong with that. I love LSU baseball like most other hardcore LSU fans. However, winning two national championships in basketball brings a lot more money, publicity, etc to a school than does winning two national championships in baseball.

you've taken a poll? Alot of people could care less about basketball until the tournament. The tournament is the thing about college basketball that gets attention and gets people involved. Unless you watch Duke/UNC and those classic rivals which are all over rated.

Since your name is "Stromile Swift" i'm guessing you are just more of a basketball fan.

Yep. Nothing wrong with that, though.

On the surface, I'd guess UF, but don't know that much about the lower sports to give a full determination.

I don't think he meant which athletic program is "popularly" the best of the decade.
