There's no correlation between saying gold and purple and shitting on LSU. Again, he didn't want to be in college and was forced to go and he picked LSU.

its pretty pathetic how many LSU fans don't like this kid because he was honest and said he didn't get anything out of LSU. that isn't a knock on LSU. its a knock on NCAA policy.

kid never should have had to play collegiate ball

he didn't have to. He could've:

1. played pro ball internationally for a year after high school
2. stayed in Australia for high school, and then he could've gone straight to the NBA.
3. sat out a year

my point, of course, is that he had zero affection for LSU, didn't know a thing about us (other than that his godfather was on the coaching staff, which is the ONLY reason he came here).

Cool story, bro. I'm waiting for his 2nd broken ankle of his career. Then I'll cheer.

I would say being top 5 in your conference in points, rebounds, assits, steals, and blocks, for the first time in your conference history is trying to win.......
hollow stats.

I never saw Ben show any emotion to show that he cared. Now maybe that's just his personality, and when I saw it in the beginning I thought "cool, this guy is humble and not a punk." Then, after watching him longer, I figured out it's not humility, it was apathy.

And as for winning, I saw him pass up the last shot against Marquette (which even the female color TV analyst was shocked about) and he flat-out ran from the spotlight against Buddy Hield and Oklahoma (which prompted Vitale and Musberger to PLEAD with him to step up -- and remember Vitale RARELY criticizes a player -- but Ben hid that day).

Incredible talent - yes. Great stats - yes. Winner - no, at least not when he was here.

Did you see how fast this team sank without him?

You can’t put a player like simmons on a shitty team and expect a NC.

He’s a great player but he has limitations. If you want Simmons shooting a game winning jumper you’re an idiot.

Ok. None that equals shitting on LSU and that's the part of my post you quoted. That's why responded with the 2nd post.

Either go to the rack, or pull up for a 12-15 footer to win a game.

That's too much to expect from a generational talent?

no such thing in basketball.

either youre productive or youre not

so hollow its literally never been done in sec history.

its cute that you blame the coach in football for lack of team accomplishments but in basketball you blame the 19 year old true freshman

Rick - I played a good bit of basketball - and there absolutely IS such a thing as hollow stats. Without a doubt.

I thought Jones was a horrible coach and wanted him fired. Jones shoulders a large part of the blame for the failed Simmons year - he handled that team terribly. But regarding Simmons, I'm merely saying that, although putting up big stats, he didn't lead us to anything significant that year. Yes, he had a horrible coach and a cancer in Quarterman, but some of that year's disaster is on him.

I would have to disagree. You have to be able to make the shots, fight for the rebounds, see the floor and deliver accurate passes for the assists, anticipate to get the steal and blocks.

Now, if you wanna talk about players cherry picking, missing 3 or 4 point blank layups and getting a rebound on the put back and guards giving the ball up when they're wide open for layup to get assists I can understand that. But, those things don't happen enough to skew season averages.
