I like Bo better.
I never saw the genius that Aranda said he’d bring with his matchups. His recruiting has been meh on the defensive line. He was the highest paid DC in the country. Didn’t quite earn that pay IMO.

I'm biased towards Aranda just because of his proven success while at LSU but I think Pelini will do a great job
What about Pelini’s even more proven success at LSU?
I would really appreciate some of the Aranda folks answering this question.

Wait. Aranda was available?
As to right direction. Pelini has as strong a defensive credentials as anyone you can name

It's like some of these people just started watching LSU 4 years ago

if you give me prime Pelini vs prime Aranda, i'm taking Pelini every time.
the ONLY question is, is he still close to his prime, which i see no reason he wouldnt be

Pelini's LSU Career > Arandas LSU Career

Aranda's defensive scheme worked better in the Big Ten.

Pelini x100! I know everyone here worshipped aranda but statistically his defenses got worse every year he was here.

You tell us when was the last time this happened?
"During Pelini's three years as LSU defensive coordinator under then-coach Les Miles from 2005-07, the Tigers ranked third nationally on defense all three years. In two of those season, LSU ranked atop the Southeastern Conference in defense."
Even his record at Nebraska is similar to Miles at LSU but he had less talent to work with:
"Pelini was at Nebraska from 2008-2014, going 66-27 and winning at least nine games each season. While his tenure at Nebraska was generally successful and largely devoid of controversy, he once apologized publicly when audio surfaced of his profane rant against “fair-weather” fans."

Put it this way, I think Pelini will have better defenses here (this go-around) than Aranda did.

No need I’m just joking. Dude I loved Aranda but Bo is a great coach and to act like Pelini is chopped liver compared to Aranda is nonsense. LSU has a great defensive tradition. We have attracted the best on that side of the ball for a long time. LSU is going to be very good defensively. It’s really not something worth worrying or lamenting about.

You seem to not remember the defenses in the early 2000’s

bullshite
75% of the rant wanted Aranda fired by mid season

They're both excellent coaches.
But Pelini's tenure at LSU was objectively superior to Aranda's tenure. I understand why some have concerns about how much offenses have changed since Pelini was a coordinator but I'm really struggling with the perception that Aranda was more successful while at LSU.
Posted on 1/27/20 at 5:48 pm to tigerfan247365
Just look at the 3 years pelini was here and compare to arandas tenure
Posted on 1/27/20 at 5:54 pm to tigerfan247365
Why either or? We no longer have Aranda.
Pelini the ball is in your court.
I'm betting he handles it well.
He is proven.

I agree with you and I liked Aranda. Hard to tell where the middle ground is because of the proliferation of the spread but statistically their defenses weren’t even close.
