No. 2 Oklahoma State? Just leave your room key at the front desk. No need for you to stick around after a double-overtime road loss to 27-point underdog Iowa State on Friday night. You're done.

If the BCS projections are correct, it will be an all-SEC top three: LSU (11-0) at No. 1., Alabama (10-1) at No. 2 and Arkansas (10-1) at No. 3. Oklahoma State (10-1) is expected to be No. 4 -- not that it matters right now.

For Alabama, a win would all but ensure the Crimson Tide a place in the national championship. Better yet for Bama, it could mean a rematch against the Tigers, who seemingly crushed the Tide's BCS chances with a Nov. 5 victory in Tuscaloosa.

Article based on emotion and not logic. Oklahoma St will most likely be #3 if LSU takes care of business. If LSU doesn't take care of business I don't really give one shite either way
#3 Oklahoma St would have the advantage of not playing until December 3rd. While Alabama is idle, Oklahoma St will be able to attempt to win against a top 10 opponent.. in a defacto conference championship game.
They're simply not out of it until they lose again. It sounds incredulous.. but shite, this last weekend was insane and they benefit as much from it as Alabama did.

You could be right but please back up your statement with math, logic, and facts.
That is the human component of it. This is where emotions come into play.

Honest question. If the human element is 2/3's and a rematch is what they want. Doesn't it make it true? Computer scores and points and polls are nice and all. I just think THIS is more influentual. Am I wrong?
NVM. BMY is over on the SEC rant page. I'll chat it up with him where I belong. Really great talking to you guys though.

The problem happens when the votes are close and split up. Then the computers effectively are worth more than their given 1/3rd.

Sure, but people are assuming they know what the human polls will do if LSU loses to Arkansas. You can use all the math and logic you want, but that won't account for the human factor. Logic need not apply in human decisions.

Prior to the events of yesterday (particularly the Oklahoma/Oregon) losses, Bama was going to get surpassed by one of them into that #2 spot after championship week due to the Tide's lack of quality wins.
They won't now. Bama can make their early Jan New Orleans plans

I agree it's possible but you can't dismiss the remaining 2 weeks of the season. A lot can still happen and no one really knows where the voters will go if okie St does win bedlam and especially if VT goes down. Stanford probably won't win the PAC 12 so I think okie jumping them in the human element is realistic if they both win out.

There's a part of the polls that goes deals with immediacy.
Since Ark just beat LSU. There's no way they could be behind LSU.
If Ark were #10 and LSU #1 it would be different.
But when you beat #1 at home, it's big and it would even trump LSU's victory over #2 Bama, since that was 3 weeks ago.
It could be #1 Bama, #2 Ark #3 LSU.
or
#1 Ark, #2 Bama #3 LSU (since Ark loss to Bama was at beginning of the season, depending on score LSU
That's why LSU has to win.

Care to explain how a team loses because of TD?

This could be the dumbest thing I've ever read.

I was saying how when this team goes 14-0 you can call it the greatest of the modern era of CFB. Someone asked me to stop saying that because every team that gets christened that before the second week in January loses.
My point was that we don't win or lose games on the message board, the team wins games on the field.

from what I can tell lsumatt,
If Oklahoma St can get to #2 in the computers, they could get 75% of the 3rd place votes (25% 2nd place) and tie Alabamas BCS average.
Does that sound right? Provided they beat OU of course.. which I doubt

I haven't been following too closely, but why is everyone saying Okie St is hurt by OU losing to Baylor?
Okie St. also beat Baylor so that helps their SOS right?

It really does almost nothing to their computer rating.

So if lsu bama and okie state win out, voters will decide who gets in to play lsu by if they want a rematch or not. Is that a correct assumption?

i think everyone should just watch espn countdown....comes on in 30

Yep. It would all depend on the voters with an edge towards no re-match. (Less than 30% of voters would have to be against a rematch).
I'm not sure Okie St wins out though.. Kind of doubt it.
