I have no doubt he will be successful.

I am interested to see how he does without elite level defensive talent. If I was Baylor I would be tickled shitless

What are you hearing about Bill Busch as DC?

Very intelligent guy. Great DC. Excited to see how he will do as a head coach.

Anyways, how should Baylor Nation feel about the hiring of Dave Aranda as HC

As good as you can find in terms of coaching acumen. He's brilliant.

He's not known as an elite recruiter so he'll have to build a team of assistants talented in that area.

I think he will make the most out of what he has but it remains to be seen if he can continue to get good enough recruits to compete for the conference championship.

Baylor fan coming here in peace. Congratulations on the national championship you all had the most amazing run in the history of college football and without a doubt the best season ever by a college QB.

Fix this and you may get some answers

Feel how you want to feel, you're in college.

Obviously he is an unproven entity as a head coach. But we all know he is a great recruiter, a very cerebral guy with great attention to detail, makes great in-game adjustments, and is greatly respected by his guys. Not a rah rah type with a very calm demeanor. Who knows. You could have done a lot worse, though.

Dave Aranda was hugely underrated during his time here. He got a lot of flack this year from shite that happened in garbage time late in games. Outstanding xs and os guy.

He won’t let his players rape every female on campus, so there’s that.

He's unproven as a HC, but he's widely regarded as one of the top DCs (and defensive minds in general) in CFB. He's about as good a pick as you could have made if you were going to make an unproven coordinator a HC at a some-what major program.

I'm sad he's no longer with us if that tells you what LSU fans thought of him. Hope he is successful with y'all as well.

He isn’t a recruiter. But you can staff around that. Especially if he takes Busch with him.

Thanks for the responses. Recruiting seems to be a common negative theme; has he shown an ability to develop players well? I know you all get a lot of 4/5 stars as it is but wasn't sure if there were some guys completely transformed in their years on campus, similar to James Lynch from our team this year.

He is a very good DC. I’m curious how he will translate as a HC.

It was the best season ever. Not a maybe.

Dave’s a genius X and O guy. Not the greatest recruiter in the world. Bill Busch is an outstanding recruiter though and has strong west coast ties. I would be excited but not as much as Rhule.

I think he’ll keep you guys competitive and very real big 12 contenders

He is smart, an agile thinker, not a rha rha personality...similar to a Bill Belichek in demeanor. Unknown as to his ability to be a successful head coach...no history. But,if Coach O were to be gone, for whatever reason...Aranda would have been a strong candidate to replace him IMO. I think he will do well and there are likely others who may come after him down the road.

He turned a very highly rated RB into the greatest LB I’ve ever seen. So, yeah. He can develop players.

Busch isn't confirmed but I believe it is likely based on what reputable Baylor sources have said.

DA is a very likable DC. He's even tempered. He works hard. He schemes well. We will miss him.

I am not sure how his skills translate to a headcoach position.
