Few of you guys telling him to stay away from Bourbon street is crazy, People around here can go anytime, So sometimes we get tired of the Street. ITs a bucket list type of fun though. My friend from Dallas and Arizona loved all the crazinest!

Honestly though, You will be having so much fun Tailgating and watching the game Saturday night, you will be to hammered to go to New Orleans.

LOL

You get to see a Big night game in Tiger Stadium You will love it.

Wear your Oregon stuff and say “frick Florida” to every tailgate you pass and you will get free food and drink.

Mike the tiger is a must

Band will come down victory hill about 2 hours before kickoff. It’s right by the tiger cage, so make sure you’re there for that

For the sake of not starting a similar thread, im going to try and piggy back off this one. Ill be driving in from Orlando for this game with a friend who is a Gator fan. We are meeting two of his friends from Texas who are also LSU fans. I want to give him the feel of the atmosphere so I plan on Mike's habitat and watching the band come down the hill.

But what about tailgating? Anyone having a tailgate we can buy into to get a legit feel? I keep telling him its different back home but I want him to know it for sure.

Tailgating will start a 7amish. Yes, we do expect college game day to be there. What is there to do? it's homecoming, so get drunk and party all day for the most part. Walk around campus in your Oregon gear. Stop a just about any LSU tailgate, introduce yourself and they will offer you food and drinks. Take it we live to eat. We dont eat to live. The food will be excellent.

My advice. Hang out on Dalrymple drive or South Stadium drive (both on campus). Maybe visit the Quad. Go see the tiger, MIKE. I expect there will be a live band at the PMAC. Watch Tiger Droppings main page the week of the even; they will announce event times for game day activities.

Catch the game at WalkOns.

Heading to New Orleans October 10 then Baton Rouge on the 11th.

If this will be your 1st trip to New Orleans you might want to move that date up a day. That will allow you time to bail out of jail and sober up.

If you have never been to the Quarter, enjoy the whole experience & Bourbon St. is part of that.Buy your drinks off Bourbon as a lot of those bars are tourist traps. Pat O'Briens is world famous and is a must stop. Their Hurricanes are strong as hell and many locals get them in go cups ....drinking on the streets is legal as long as the drink is not in a glass. Stay in the middle of the Quarter and you'll be ok. Chimes to watch the game on Fri nite is a good choice but as it right next to campus, it will be crowded and loud. Walk Ons on campus is good, too. Tailgates are up and running from 7 - 8 a.m. Sat.on all around the stadium. Do wear your Duck's shirts. Pace yourself as LSU fans are professional drinkers and will keep your cups full all day long. Do not ask what is on a pit....just eat & enjoy. With the gators in town, there will be a LOT of fried alligator at tailgates. B.R.P.D cops are like cops everywhere, just stay away from them is my philosophy.

I made it to state my senior year in highschool, but that was a while ago. Not really sure where I'd be put on the rating scale, but probably not nearly as good as you. But cool to see others who enjoy playing tennis!

You have solid advice for BR and bars to catch the game.

For NOLA, I think you definitely have to walk down Bourbon. But in regards to food and a nice NOLA experience, I like the Warehouse district for ears. Cochon is great, Compere Lapin is one of my favorite meals. The last time I was at Palace Cafe, I really enjoyed it. If you want to eat in the FQ, try GW Fins. We once sat next to Morgan Freeman there.

Have a great time!

Downvoted to hell but the OP is from Oregon so this is actually a legit suggestion.

This is awesome. That’s them...Awesome people! Did Game Day do a feature on them. How did you hear about this originally. Trying to find it online, but couldn’t locate anything.

Yeah they did a quick segment on them when they came back from a commercial.. it was the day of the LSU/Texas game here in Austin..they said the couple had an RV and decided to point it towards whatever city Gameday was going to the following week so they could experience all the different college stadiums and game atmospheres.. I believe they did a short interview with them as well.

New Orleans recommendations:

Places to eat (not all places in quarter or walkable, but a cheap Uber ride at best):
Poboy- Killer poboy (in Erin Rose bar); Johnny’s poboy’s
Muffuletta- Central Grocery
Cochon
Sobou
Tableau
Kingfish
Brennan’s
Felix’s (Acme is across the stress but that’s for the tourists!)
Ruby Slipper for breakfast
Palace Cafe
Dominica- awesome thin crust pizza
Company Burger- really good burgers if you are craving one!
Drago’s- best place to get chargrilled oysters; also good boiled and fried seafood
Sylvian
Bayona
Borgne
Mother’s or Deenie’s- good seafood
Galatoire’s, Arnaud’s, or Antoine’s- fancy, but classic New Orleans
Jack Rose
