Watch the ball all the way to the bat. Take a big step and make a nice level swing. Keep your elbow up and your chin on your shoulder

This! If elbow is to high the bat is out of position and /or the hands, which means something has to be done to get on plane. Pujols gets away with it, but he is quite able to drop the bat in time.

beat me to it...

its actually horrific for a bat swing to have the back elbow up, i have to correct kids everyday because they had a j-league coach tell them this when they were little...

back elbow up means upper cut swing...

up is known to be above the should...that is clearly a little below the shoulder...so technically his back elbow is down...
