I'm not too worried about the loss tonight. Even great teams have a few hiccups along the way.

Does anyone have an explanation as to why we've struggled in the field through these first few games? Especially the infield. Is it just a few guys settling in to new positions or could it be something else? It's just surprising to watch a team that is usually near the top of the SEC in fielding pct. struggle like this. I know it's a small sample size thus far.

If I had to guess...i'd say over half our errors are by guys playing out of position or the errors are made by backups. Doesn't really worry me.

Hale had two errors when he normally plays 1B he started 2B that game.
Jordan Freshman pressed early.
few other errors that are just on a young team making mental errors.

We will be fine on defense not worried.

Concentration, they need to get their heads into the game and not just go through the motions.

So far this year

Hale 2 Errors
Robertson 1 error, but that also lead to a tag out.
Bregs 1 error
Zardon 1 Error
Br Jordan 1 Error
Sciambra 1 Error.
Norman 1 Error
Bouman 1 Error

only 3 of the 9 errors we have this season are guys who made errors in their normal spots.

We will have one of the best defensive teams in the country once we get into sec play. We just need clutch hitting and pitching

Bregman's error today was just him being overzealous. While we love that out of him it will bite us in the arse a few times.

Bregman's error on the throw?

His big mistake, which wasn't given an error, was trying to bare hand a ball. Missed it and it became a double after getting out into left field.

I knew it was going to be a long night when they were warming up. They did a closeup (xbox live stream)of one of the players that lasted all of 2 seconds. He threw the ball and then did the oops head duck like he almost beaned somebody. Must have air mailed it!

Not sure how Lazarre still has a job. This is unacceptable.

sounds like a poor coaching job if you are playing people in the wrong positions.

I think the bigger issue is still the lack of gap power. The new balls havent helped us at all yet whereas everyone else's power numbers are way up.

Small sample size for sure but the team just seems to have way too many single hitters.

What are the odds that Deichmann takes over at 3rd when he gets healthy? I've heard he's solid at the plate but how does his defense compare with the other guys we've tried at 3rd so far?
