How can you remotely quantify that if you're not spending time with these players?

I'm not sure how I could be any clearer.

The 2023 outfield had incredible depth, incredible talent, played together for 2-3 years. As I stated above, I don’t simply calculate individuals tools into a formula a divide by 3.

Let’s talk 2024. What are your thoughts on the outfield?

The SEC is great, but it's not so much better than the Pac 12 that Bingham will suddenly drop 80 points on his average.

I'd like to think getting back with and getting instruction from Jay and Wanaka will maybe add a little bit to his overall approach and swing to help offset any decline from an increased opponent talent in this area.

That's not even to mention the advanced technology that is used here to assist players that maybe he didn't have available out at AZ.

It's more pitchability than power arms (on average) and the fields are generally bigger than in the SEC, so the hitting environment is a little different. But Bingham will be fine here.

Agreed. The PAC 12 is a very strong baseball conference, especially when it comes to pitching. West Coast teams always pitch well. And you made a great point about bigger parks and harder conditions to hit in. If you can hit well in the PAC 12, you can hit well anywhere.

I don't really have many thoughts on it.

Haven't been able to see anything beyond fan box scores.

But again, I wasn't shitting on you for any comparisons of the 2023 OF vs the 2024 OF. Just wondering how you quantify intangibles in general.

The same way tad used to determine our win loss record by predicting every single game resulting in only 29 SEC games and a 24-5 record where 4 of the 5 losses were Friday with Nola pitching.

Listening to some local media, some people are really discounting Bingham's production because it came in the Pac 12. Not saying that's what's happening here, this just gave me an opening to talk about it.
Hes going to be really solid for us at the bottom of the lineup. Can see him at 9th all year with a good turnover rate to the top and Braswell/Pearson/White/Trav/Neal combo.

I already said yesterdays looked pretty close to what Jay had planned for his weekends.

SS Braswell 1-3 2b 9 6-3
DH/C Neal 0-2 K 5 BB
3rd White 0-3 4-3 8 K
C/DH Travinski 1-2 BB 1b K
2nd Pearson 2-3 1b rbin4 1b rbi
1st/C Jones 0-3 K K 8
RF/1st Brown 1-2 8 HR rbi
CF Kling 0-2 6-3 K
LF Bingham 0-2 8 7

I would probably flip Pearson and Neal. But I could see this as the starters come next week.

Who would you rather leadoff Braswell or Kling?

Agree on the Pearson and Neal flip

I'd go with something like

Kling R
Pearson L
White R
Travinski R
Neal L
Braswell R
Jones R
Brown L
Bingham R

Braswell seems to be a leader on this team even as a transfer. Even in the dugout he’s very vocal and interacts with everyone. I like him setting the tone.

Try 1st or 2nd in the lineup.

He might not start the season there, but he won’t stay at the bottom long.

I agree with Winnie. I think he would be a perfect candidate for the 9 hole with his ability to swing for power. I like having him in that role kinda like having another leadoff guy there but giving him an opportunity to swing with potential runners on ahead of him.

I sorta like the idea of having Brown and Kling up just ahead of Mac also. It would give his advanced bat and mature approach more opportunity to do damage and then turning it over to the top of the order. I can see Jay maybe wanting Paxton at or near the top of the lineup as well.

I mean, Tre Morgan would have been a great 9 hole hitter as well, but you don’t usually bat guys that hit .330 in the 9 hole. Do you guys realize how good of a hitter Bingham was at Arizona? He had better numbers at the plate than Tre Morgan last season.
