Zach Watson had an off night, but did notch a timely and critical bunt late in the game,

I'm liking this freshman so much.

Yes, but that's easy to say in hindsight. With a one run lead in the 9th, you play to win this game and not to win Sunday, and Newman is our closer and best arm in the pen and they were hitting the ball hard against Hess. Besides, Walker has been consistently going deep into games

Be honest. You'd be ripping PM a new a-hole if he'd brought in Newman and he gave up the lead after "Hess was pitching so well".

It was the right move from the get go and Newman was ready to go if Hess got in any real trouble.

I feel really bad for that poor guy Deichmann threw out - why would you put in a dude who can't run? I hope he didn't frick up his knee any worse.

I didn't get to see any of the game but from what I heard, Hess pitched lights out.

Hess pitched a fantastic game , gave up one hit ! he had some great defense behind him! Now we have Walker and a fairly fresh bullpen for Sunday. Kentucky has had our number the last few series, it is now time to take the series from them in their house!

I noticed yesterday during the in-game threads that every single post the guy made was just to slam Mainieri. I'd never noticed him before.

He obviously has some kind of a personal vendetta against Mainieri that goes beyond just losing baseball games.

Those quotes are just from about the last 3 weeks of his posts. I figured there was no need to keep going.

His posts criticizing Mainieri outnumber the rest of his posts by about 3 to 1.

And his criticisms are never accompanied with any substance as to what PM should do or should have done during a game. No baseball analysis at all. Just slamming Mainieri without any other context.

And if the coaches make a good decision that works during a game and a poster points that out, or if a poster praises Mainieri in any way, the guy resorts to personally attacking the other poster. Kinda weird.

That kinda bitterness toward an overall successful coach runs toward the needing mental health treatment badly level.

Absolutely not as I was lobbying for Newman to come in during the 8th after UK had crushed 2 straight balls to the warning track in center and a web gem double turned out by coomes at first. If Newman had blown it, then at least I would know that Kentucky earned it against our lights out closer

If CPM brings Newman in to start the ninth and he gets em up and down on say 15 or so pitches he would still be available for Sunday's game right?

Im not a baseball expert obviously but Im guessing CPM didn't bring Newman in last night because he wanted him 100% available for a long relief situation today correct?

Kind of like someone that comes to the rescue of certain players on the team...
