Because Ott is LSU's closer and is more proven. If he had stuck with Eades, and Eades had blown, imagine the uproar of not putting in LSU's all time save leader.

That said, Ott is struggling and he was left in 1 or 2 batters too long. My guess is Mainieri is going to have to rethink his closer situation in the next few weeks if not sooner.
