I realize it is two completely different things. Confidence is mental so it's hard to argue that something can't give a freshman kid some confidence.
I am just hoping there is a reason for bunting someone in the two hole in half of their early season at bats.

this is bad coaching. I understand you have to watch your pitching early in the year but my god when you see a pitcher doesnt have it or has hit the wall you have to go get him.
If we dont have starters that can go beyond 4 innings we are going to get pounded in the sec.
This byu team sucks and we have given them runs for no reason.
How can you not try for the guy at the plate and just give a run.

I'm willing to bet anything that is exactly why they're doing it with Laird. If he can prove he can lay it down with his speed teams will have to play him in all the time, and that will make it even easier for him to slap ground balls through the infield.
I don't know why he's doing it so much with others though.
