You're right. As a matter of fact the starting line up should be J. Jefferson at QB with Molton and Chris Tolliver at WR with Ridley at RB and Tyler Edwards at TE. Baker, Theriot and Prater can play LBer and PJ, J. Taylor, Bryant and CJ can be the secondary.
Who cares if Jai Eugene, Phelon Jones, Ron Brooks, J. Williams or C. Hawkins, Beckwith, Riley, Lee, LaFell, Byrd or T. Tolliver have been here for a while. These guys have more stars and are fresher in the minds of people who keep up with recruiting.

Not for LSU I haven't and neither has anyone else. Jai and Phelon came in with just as much hype, but people forget about that and move on to the next hyped up player. It was the same with KW, Luke Sanders and RP.
It's hard for Freshman to start in the SEC and especially for good teams with depth. As great as CJ was, he didn't play until late in the season and never started. Jai and Hawkins have actual game experience. PJ has high school experience. Hell, Phelon, Brooks and Williams have at least been practicing against LaFell, Byrd and Tolliver. Just let the coaches decide who will play when and stop saying that every 5 star player we sign will be starting by what date.

People don't understand. This is a player that comes around every 5-6 years. He is physically ready to play at the highest level in D1 ball right now. PJ has been working out in BR and local highschool coaches have said he is the best player that they have ever seen and they believe he'll be starting next year.

And the hype for these kids grows every year. RP had more hype than Peyton Manning and Kevin Faulk combined. Hype = hype and that's all. Lets at least wait until they step foot on campus before we start declaring who will redshirt and who will play and who will start.

Does anyone here remember Darryl Johnson or Nick Child? They were supposed to be our Sean Taylor and Champ Bailey. Not saying PJ will not be good, but just realize it's hard for true freshman to play, much less start and that redshirting is a real possibility. Hell, it's better to have the possiblity of having PJ for five years than to burn a redshirt if Jai, Hawkins and Jones solidify themselves as starters.

The best thing you can do is watch his film... try to find a copy of the Army All-American game and see if you feel differently about the possibility of him getting serious PT as a true freshman. I hope like everyone else that Jai Eugene, Chris Hawkins, and Phelon Jones are solid contributors at CB, but I do absolutely think that Patrick Johnson is by far the most physically gifted of the corners we have... and he's gotten rave reviews from coaches and recruiters about how far along he is mentally.

PJ will not be redshirted. I think one reason he came to LSU is because he saw the chance to have immediate playing time. He will be a starter later in the year. And I think he will shut down JJ.

there is no way patrick johnson is red shirting. the kid is too good to keep off the field, especially with LSU's situation at cornerback. eric berry tore it up as a true freshman corner at tenn and johnson is a better prospect than barry was. he's going to be phenomenal

you can't compare those two to patrick johnson, they're nowhere near the same caliber recruit. many people consider patrick johnson to be the best cornerback prospect of the modern recruiting era.

Exactly. While these guys were great prospects, they are no where near the caliber of PJ. LeBron was physically ready for the NBA out of highschool and PJ is a freak along those lines. His body is ready to play at the highest level right now and he's arguably the best athlete I've seen recruited to LSU.

I did watch the Army All-American game and he looked good against other high-school athletes. So did Xavier Carter when he played, so did Brian Toal, DeSuan Jackson, Patrick Turner, and many other guys who didn't start as freshman. Hell, Clausen won the MVP on year, even though Mallet outplayed him, that doesn't make him great.

Were you not around when Darryl Johnson was being recruited? People said he was going to be better than Sean Taylor. Also, Luke Sanders was going to be better than Brady James. It's all projections and you're entitled to your opinion. Just don't state it as fact and let it play out.

So you're going on record as saying that Patrick Johnson will not start this season (at any point), right?
ETA: For what it's worth, Desean Jackson did get starts at Cal his freshman year. He led them in receiving if I remember correctly.
