I had no problems with the ball control clock running offense philosophy in the last 7 minutes or so of the game. I just think we have elements in the passing game that can mix in with the battering ram approach to accomplish this. FB or RB in the flats, Landry in the slot, TE in the seam. Just thought we could have showed more options in the name of ball control and eating clock. And the fake field goal with 10 yds to go that close to goal was???!

Yeah, but you are not running much clock if you're not getting 1st downs. That defeats the whole purpose.

Exactly. And I think with a SR QB and line pass blocking like they are combined with Landrys ability in the slot or the TE seam surprise is an automatic 8 yds at least. Then 2 plays to get 2 yds however you want.

Personally, I like the call. It almost worked. If it works, LSU gets a nail in the coffin TD. It adds an element of unpredictability that opponents have to prepare for.

What do LSU fans want? More conservative...or more flamboyant?

If the fake field goal would have scored, or at least gotten one more yard for the first down, it would have probably been the Play of the Week for an otherwise boring NCAA weekend, and furthered CLM's reputation as the Mad Hatter.

The game seemed well at hand at that point and I think it was a worthwhile gamble.

That is the ONLY positive of it, getting it on film to cause opponents to prepare.

I want whatever the situation calls for. And with 10 yds to go, making it a 14 or so yard run with Fruge in the middle to get it, not called for. Now if Jeremy Hill is the holder, maybe. You go up 17 there.

In other words you want a guarantee that it will work?

I want the more SURE option. And in that situation, kicking is the most sure option.

I would have kicked at 4th and 10, but I imagine they had planned to run something in the kicking game this week, just to put it out there for Georgia. At that point they probably figured the game was in hand...and it was, so why not.
