One of the things "fans" bitched about in the 80s and 90s was how Skip Bertman didn't pitch his best guys in mid-week games... we lost a few each year.

The difference today is, in fact, the influence Skip Bertman had on college baseball... in LA, in the SEC, and nationally. We could out work other programs and separated ourselves. LSU has not backed up.... but a whole lot more programs put resources into baseball, so the talent is spread out.

By SEC season play and through post season LSU will develop into a top tier team, week in and week out.

10 years ago we lost to Stetson (who?), Southeastern (oh look at that), and UNO twice.

People were nervous about . Not so much now

Which also coincides with the boom of popularity in the sport. Funny how that happens.
