what I find laughable about the whole article is that it all hinges on Jan 9th.
What I find laughable is that a 21-point loss is called "the worst loss in [BCS Championship Game] history," when Oklahoma was skull-drug for more than 2 TDs worse.

If it was'nt for the Chief, dufus miles would be gone. Miles is a big 10 loser and always will be! He is a carpetbagging opportunistic, shiffty, lying, idiot. Saban left the cupboard loaded and then the Chief carried him this far! He is the worst wanna be offensive coord in football. Not starting Mett last year and letting him grow just so Jefferson could play is beyond belief retarded! If the Chief leaves or retires we are dead!

Mullet at # 5 is a joke. His record against any decent D-1 team is laughable. Miles, Pinkel, and Chizik are all much better. 8th or 9th best is being generous. ETA Miles should be #2.

"However, he has also developed another reputation based on bizarre eating habits, poor end-game management, vocal gaffes...."
He was shown putting "A" blade of grass in his teeth ONE TIME - at a critical part of the '10 Bama game. "THAT'S" 'bizarre eating habits' ?????????

"Poor end game management"
Why is NOTHING ever said about Miles "excellent end-game management":
'05 AU, UF, Ark............'06 UT, OM, Ark........
'07 UF, AU, Bama, UT.......'08 AU.................
'09 UGA, Arky..............'10 UF, Bama...........
'11 Bama (9-6)

"Vocal gaffes"
WTF do Miles' speech patterns to the GD media have ANYTHING to do with his speech patterns to his players and coaches in the locker room, at practice, and on the sidelines ????

"Saban has been the far superior coach. Miles has lost 12 games to Saban’s six since 2007, and with what could be perceived as the best roster in the nation, three losses per season isn’t getting it done."
So much fail in this. NINE of those 12 losses since 2007 occurred in 2008 and 2009, after Perrilloux was dismissed.
Miles is 3-3 vs Saban, and could very easily be at least 4-2, but Saban is "the far superior coach." ??????

"Three losses per season"
Again, 5 losses in '08, 4 in '09.
EVERY other season has been double digit wins, and TWO or less losses.

Miles suffers from poor public perception, mostly by his own doing. Do you have to be reminded of this every 3 months when a new article like this comes out? People always seem amazed every time one of these articles comes out, as if somehow it's heresy that the rest of the world doesn't have the same perception of Miles that we have.

NEWSFLASH: The college football intelligentsia does not think the same way about Les Miles that you do!

You are kinda missing the point on that one. Tom Osborne did not need to throw down the field on Florida because they were running all over them all game long.

LSU, on the other hand, was not running all over Alabama. And it was not really because our RBs were not doing the job. The RB with the most touches on 1/9 was Hilliard with 5. That's right...5. JJ ran the ball 15 times.

If you are doing something that works, don't change it. That was Osborne against Florida. If you are doing something that fails miserably, don't change it. That was Miles against Alabama.

Everyone saw that and it kind of really hurt Miles' perception as a good coach. He had made some significant progress in changing the media's perception of him up until that point. And then it went all out the window. No one can defend Miles in that game, not even the most purple and gold person. A few try, bless 'em, but everyone knows that was a grade A, world class, exceptional coaching F up. Enough to make you rethink what you thought of the coach.
Well said.

The author's statement about Miles was actually more about Saban than it was Miles.

Good thing BamaNation rationally didn't try to ditch Saban after 2010 IB fiasco, where would they be now? Hopefully the same or better mentality will prevail in TigerLand.

Where did I say we should "ditch" Miles?

U gut's want talk about Les's clock management, what about the Tenn. game year before last. If t-Bob hadn't centered the ball the game would have been over! JJ is still looking at miles as the clock runs out. Lucky Tenn had too many players on the field

I've stated a million times on here Miles has done a great job at various times and managed the 2011 season well up until the point of the NC game. He's also had times of running the program well prior to that. Unfortunately he's had epic meltdowns and clusterfricks that can't be swept under the rug. I'm recognizing both of those aspects as a part of his coaching history. You just tend to focus only on the negative comments. What's not balanced about that?
