7. LSU

quote:

Coach Ed Orgeron brought up-and-coming assistant Joe Brady from the Saints to coach receivers and help coordinator Steve Ensminger implement more spread/RPO looks.

While true, Coach Eaux says it was Slinger who requested that Brady be brought aboard.

quote:

Justin Jefferson is back after catching 54 passes for 875 yards last season, and the program has a cast of talented receivers waiting to emerge, including Ja'Marr Chase and Terrace Marshall.

Absolutely LOADED at WR. Also have Dee Anderson, Derrick Dillon and Stephen Sullivan who all have a lot of experience.

Not to mention Stephen Sullivan who will be a pass-catching TE and Jamal Pettigrew.

quote:

don't expect LSU’s defense to slip on the stat sheet. Each level of the unit ranks among the best in the SEC, and linebacker K'Lavon Chaisson’s return from injury will bolster a pass rush

Other teams of interest and top 10:

23. Missouri
22. UCF
21. Syracuse
20. Auburn

11. Texas
10. Texas A&M
9. Notre Dame
8. Florida
7. LSU
6. Oklahoma
5. Ohio State (questionable)
4. Michigan (even more questionable)
3. Georgia
2. Clemson
1. Alabama

Last year Athlon did not have LSU ranked in the top 25. Also had Ohio State at #4 and Michigan #5. I guess if they do it every year they may even be right in the distant future.

Don't mind #7 at all. When we beat texas we will be top five then we beat Bama where we remain at number 1 the rest of the season. LSU 2019 national champions

Certainly you can understand Bama, Clemson and UGA's ranking. Also, OU and OSU have earned the benefit of the doubt. But Michigan at 6?! Anytime they have gone up against an opponents who can match their talent they get beat. So is this ranking based on Harbaugh's past success even though he's done nothing of significant note in 5 years. OR is this simply a default ranking because their schedule is favorable?

This is a team whose last two games featured them getting stomped by OSU AND a fairly average Florida team.

What am I missing?

This can be a learning experience for you. Sullivan will play both positions - WR AND TE.

They are #4 aren't they? Which is even worse. The next time they win a big game it will be their first time to win a big game. It will feel like it anyway.

Ohio State returns one starter on the Oline and has a new head coach.

I recommended that he spend some time with Mike in his enclosure. I think it'd be good for the both of them.

Interesting thoughts on Michigan. Can you tell me what you think about their new OC, his impact on their offense, and how that compares to what our fan base believes about the Brady hire?

What's questionable about their rankings?

I think they are predicting Bama to beat Clemson in the NC game.

quote:

Instead, this ranking takes into account where we project teams to finish after the national championship in January.

Clemson's hardest regular season game is their home game against Texas A&M. The second toughest is probably the road game at South Carolina.

Why do you have to be a jerk 100% of the time? I asked you a legitimate question.

Certainly there must've been a thought process behind using the word "questionable" in regards to Ohio st and Michigan's rankings.
