Jay has made it clear that he is not quick to welcome people back from the portal.

waiting on Stanfield to see what he's going to do

Stanfield has a difficult decision; he wanted to go pro but wasn’t drafted.

And damn near every post game team pic had Larson next to Jay with his arm around him even though he wasn't playing. If Stanfield leaves, I would not be surprised at all to see Jay take Larson back. He was a team player that just needs to play now

Yep so either he signs a FA contract or comes back plays again and hope he gets drafted next year or sign a FA contract next year after he finishes his senior year

It seems like Stanfield is ready to get out of college and start his career. The question is how much NIL money could he get to stay, which would assuredly be more than whatever FA contract he signs.

It was Kling whether you want to believe it or not.

given how many players have entered the transfer portal since he's been here, you have no idea who it was. But it is a fact that Jay has never said who he was talking about whether or not you want to make assumptions about who it was.

this is the right take. Everyone does not leave begrudgingly. If the opportunities are going to be limited and players want to get to the field faster they make the decision to move on. Josh Jordan just said in his interview John Eads guys using the portal to better their situation is never looked upon negatively.

On the other hand, if you are trying to leverage more money and negotiate that is different.

CJJ even said on a subsequent interview he never told anyone to leave this year. Those were decisions the players had to make to get themselves in the best position to do what they enjoy PLAY BASEBALL.

I think there's a chance. He was basically a last minute portal addition. I think he's looking for playing time. With a high probability that Jones and frey are gone plus Costello already transferred out he's got an opportunity at 1b. If stanny goes he's got opportunity in OF. That may not be good enough to keep him around, but if he didn't enter the portal when he did he'd have no opportunity at all.

Jays comments on transfers was that he didn't want to enter a bidding war. I don't think money was why Larson entered the portal.

We'll see how it all shakes out in a few weeks

At least from what the public could see, Larson was a model teammate and accepted his much reduced role this season with class. He was always one of the first off the bench congratulating guys after a big hit or defensive play. And as mentioned above, he and Jay seem to be pretty tight. He also delivered on a few occasions as a PH through the mid and late season and was really good as a true freshman last year.

Larson wants playing time and he’s good enough to get it guaranteed most anywhere else. I don’t think anyone blames him for looking around. But I have a feeling Jay might take him back from the Portal if Stanfield moves on with the others we also lost in the draft. We’ll see. I don’t expect it, but I also don’t think Jay tells him to kick rocks, either.
