I think the problem is that you are confusing bandwagoners with true LSU fans.

All things you said have truth to them and I like Miles a lot. My question to you and to others on the rant though is 10-2 with losses to Alabama and Florida good enough for you year in and year out? If Miles doesn't win those big games he's not here for the long haul. Two successive years (no matter what the reason as he was having great recruiting classes prior to Saban's arrival at Alabama) of losing to Florida and Alabama are not acceptable to most LSU fans any longer. We should not settle for 2nd best in either the West or the entire conference. If the losing continues to these programs regularly Miles should be on the hot seat, no question about it.

I agree with you, but college football is fluid - programs fluctuate. I admit, if we lose next year to one or both of those schools, I may well be singing a different tune because I think talent wise next year will be a much better year for LSU.

Cross that bridge when we get to it. The problem with the SEC is that next year when we beat either Florida or Bama we'll probably drop one to Arky or Ole Miss and finish 10-2 anyhow. That's the nature of the beast and life in the SEC.

I understand that its a minority of fans; but I am just sick of logging on to TigerDroppings & reading some of this BS. More than that, its getting noticed by other fan boards & some media outlets. It just really seems to me that some of these "fans" enjoy it more when LSU loses than succeeds, because they can then sit back and say "told you so."

I mean for God's sake, someone actually started a thread arguing that LSU would be better off with RICH RORDRIGUEZ as the coach!!!

Arguably...but 3 pieces of that superior talent were on the bench with injuries.

Against Florida we should have attempted more passes DOWNFIELD... we have a very good receiving corps... and we shouldn't have benched our greatest breakaway threat. You're correct about the injuries against Alabama... they did play a huge role in the outcome. Still, it stings when you see that you have a better passing and more mobile quarterback, better receivers, better DB's who haven't exploded all year long.

Your post expresses my sentiments down to the last period and semicolon. When I get annoyed (or worse) reading the stuff on this board I try to tell myself that it does not represent a cross-section of LSU fans, but instead tends to attract disproportionately those who, for whatever reason, feel aggrieved.

I don't disagree, but I'm willing to accept the explanation that the coaches, who are working with our QB everyday, were nervous after pushing (and probably ruining) Lee last year. I'd rather have a solid QB for the next few years than another spoiled QB and then having to train one on the fly, again.

We're 7-2, 4-2, with the two losses to the top 2 teams in the country, each game decided by 10 points or fewer. And we gave to those teams as good as we got (holding the No. 1 team in the nation to its lowest score in 5 years).

and on top of that, when he could have (and maybe should have) gone home to what surely must be his dream job -coaching his alma mater- he chose to be true to his team & this school. As a note, by my count there have been no less that FOUR (4) stories in national or non-Louisiana newspapers about how great Les Miles is handling this situation - including TWO in Nick Saban's backyard (while he, characteristically, blames the media & the press).

Uhhhhhh??? Really??? What do you care???

It says a lot when your own team is so bad you have to use someone else's coach to make a point.

If you get Porter, you should thank Les Miles.

I agree. I am glad that you took the time to type all of that.

I am also surprised that nobody has come in here and posted something like: "LSU is in a decline. If you can't see that, you're retarded."

Yet here some of us are crying for a coaching change, questioning every play, every call, yelling for his head now for not yelling about the officiating, on and on...ONLY to the embarrassment of ourselves, our school and our team. WOW. As the old saying goes, "with friends like that, who needs enemies?"
Pathetic.

And, "no good deed goes unpunished."

Thanks for posting this refreshing thread. I admit Miles vexes me sometimes, but never to the point to which I think he should be fired. Sure, like all successful coaches in the elite conferences, he's the face and leader of the program. He gets paid the big bucks, but is accountable for the great and not-so-great things that happen under his watch.

Since Miles took over, you gotta remember that it takes A LOT to beat LSU and, w/the exception of half of last season, that doesn't happen too often.

Year one, LSU's only reg. season loss: in OT vs. Tenn. (30-27), lost to GA in SECCG; Year two, @ No. 3 Auburn (7-3) and at No. 5 Fla. (23-10); Year three, @ No. 14 Kentucky and Arkansas (both in 3 OTs), This year, 13-3 to No. 1 Fla. and at No. 3 Alabama. Even last year, we took No. 1 'Bama to OT before losing.
