Modern times are the only times it could have happened. In the old days the field would have teams like Maine, Rice, Cal St Fullerton, Wichita State, Mississippi State, Pepperdine, USC and Long Beach.

No Cinderella in the CWS. Only team in not to host a regional was last year’s runner-up.
