It didn't have anything to do with Coach Knight as Bird never actually made it to a practice before he left. Bird, as you know, really came from limited means. Knight had him rooming with one of the more affluent players and it wasn't a good fit. In addition, Kent Benson picked on Bird unmercifully and he left school after only being there for a very short time. It didn't have anything to do with Knight.

The way I remember that story Bird actually quit basketball altogether and drove a garbage truck for a year before signing with Indiana State.



Back to the spring game, I'm most interested in what tricks Cam has to hide Mett's slow drop. I don't ever want to see a replay of the Clemson game but you know every opponent is watching that tape. Shotgun, pistol, quic drops could all help but we know how Miles loves the I and its variants. Mett is not a good I-formation QB.
