There is no question this guy is fast and seems to be good, but if he is so damn good why isn't he playing with the big boys?

Idiot. Look at the schools the NFL's starting quarterbacks attended. All big-time Division I-A? Not even close.

According to the Appy st fans he has the talent and ability to play with the big boys,he justloves to play at appy st apparently.

Sometimes it takes more time for people to develop. Maybe he was a speedy WR in hs that didn't get many looks from big schools and converted at App. St. IDK, but he is a very good player.

hey jackass it was a serious questions, not knocking the guy just wondering

This question has already been discussed on here, but that's okay, we'll do this again.
He was wanting to go to either Clemson or USC since he is from SC, but neither wanted him as QB right our of high school because of his size. I think USC might not have wanted him for anything and Clemson said maybe a WR. He decided to come to App because they would give him a chance at QB. Our program had 6 of 22 walk-ons last year as starters, so we rely on walk-ons to some extent. We take the ones that SOME D1-A universities are too stupid to see may actually amount to something. Notice I said some not all.
People have asked him about transferring to a D1-A school, but he doesn't want to. One of his quotes is "They didn't want me then, so I don't want them now." He's completely happy where he is. Here's the analogy my dad uses. Why would you go from being a big fish in a small pond to being a small fish in a big pond?

He only played one and a half years in high school as a quarterback.
He became the only high school QB in South Carolina history to run for 1000 yards and pass for 2000 in his senior season. But most I-A schools thought he was too small to play quarterback.
He had offers from Clemson and a couple other BCS schools, but not as a quarterback.

ny, name a few small school starters......(i.e. Southern Miss is D-IA (not small school))

According to his rivals profile he wasn't offered by anyone but Appy St. He listed that he was interested in Vandy though.

You are welcome!
He wasn't offered anything from anybody except for App. If you read my post, it says that he was possibly intersted in Clemson or USC, but they wouldn't take him.

Just because his Rivals profile doesn't say something about a school, doesn't mean it isn't true...

That's fine. I don't have a problem with that. I decided to go back and edit that because I didn't like the way it sounded. Sorry if I made you mad.

I'm not mad...I actually posted my blurb about rivals before I even saw your post above.

Okay then! Just wanted to make sure.
I'm not one this board to pi$$ anybody off like maybe some App fans are.

By the end of his senior season at Greenwood High, Edwards had scholarship offers from Appalachian State and Division I-A New Mexico State. The Aggies courted Edwards as a receiver but lost interest when new coach Hal Mumme discovered he didn't have enough scholarships to sign a full class.
"If he was one of the players we dropped, we certainly screwed up," Mumme said. "We liked him. I think he probably just wanted to play quarterback. Their offense fit his playing ability a little bit better than our offense. And he probably wanted to stay closer to home."
Edwards said he received late scholarship offers from Clemson, Memphis and Vanderbilt, but opted to keep his promise to the Mountaineers.

At Greenwood High, under coach Shell Dula, he was named to the Greenwood Touchdown Club/Index-Journal All-Lakelands Team. Edwards originally played wide receiver at Greenwood HS, but in his senior year moved under center. The transition occurred late in the recruiting process, and he drew some interest from Indiana University Northwest Redhawks, Georgia, NMSU, Clemson, Purdue University North Central, and a few other Division I FBS programs. However, he decided to honor his commitment to Appalachian State, in part because they would let him stay a quarterback.

Steve McNair - Alcorn 1AA (yes I know he is retired)
Tony Romo - Eastern Illinois 1AA
Ben Roethlisberger - Miami Ohio MAC
David Garrard - East Carolina CUSA
Tavares Jackson - SWAC
Jeff Garcia - San Jose St. WAC
Byron Leftwich and Cahd Pennington - Marshall
Eli Manning - Ole Miss (that was a joke)
Kurt Warner - Northern Iowa
