The schedules are different but fundamentally there is some crossover as to why they manage arms the similarly.

There are other reasons as to why college coaches are careful. They beg these kids to come to college to develop them, not over work & ruin them before they get paid.

I’m not saying Anderson is ruined. This is just an observation worth noting going forward. It is an obscene amount of pitches in modern baseball.

He would have been fired probably as soon as Anderson went out for the 7th.

But their season just started and their games don’t matter. But zero chance a GM lets a guy with Anderson’s future throw 135 pitches in a non MLB playoff game. Hell, it might have to be Game 7 of the World Series.

I’m not saying I agree with it completely, but to pretend like it doesn’t exist is absurd. And it will 100% be used to negative recruit against Jay. May not matter. Hope it doesn’t. It may have been worth it to raise Anderson’s confidence after last week. Hell, he may use this to catapult into a top 5 pick. Hope he does.

But it was a gamble, and Jay is going to have to answer some hard questions about it. He obviously doesn’t care. Maybe he has great answers.

Its puzzling to me Jay woukd do that this early in the season with 2 ace relievers ready.

You're dammed if you do or dammed if you don't in this place.

Very tight game and had he pulled him, and LSU lost then y'all firing JJ tomorrow. But you let a kid that obviously wanted to finish out and y'all are all expert pitching coaches.

KA also threw a lot of off speed pitches tonight. Much more than usual Id say. That could of had something to do with it also. Maybe someone could find they numbers. Also it was a cool night and a fast game.

That’s not why they don’t do it anymore.

No, it’s because everyone is max effort and no more than 2-3 times through the lineup. MLB hitters are too good and there are lots of bullpen arms available who can throw mid/high 90s.

Might as well hang the cleats up baw. We had no shot at a natty anyway.

Some Rant genius told me today we had too many Louisiana players to win a championship. Never mind 2023 and having the exact same number of local boys.

We’re just full of complete experts and idiots. No middle ground here.

In just the last 5 days we have learned on the Rant that Lester Earl the poster would be a better women's basketball coach than Kim Mulkey and would be a better college baseball coach than Jay Johnson.

We are truly blessed he chooses to enlighten us.

I didn’t think saying 135 pitches is a lot would cause several people to meltdown tonight.

I'm not melting. I'm just curious when the last time you said anything positive about a LSU coaching decision?

No one in the organization cares if the A ball manager wins games.

Jay Johnson will get fired if he doesn't win enough games.

We can only hope that Anderson's offseason work and buildup to this point allows him to recover and continue to progress through the postseason despite the high pitch count tonight.

Last year he seemed to get fatigued down the stretch until he had a turnaround in the post season. Regardless it was a hell of an effort by Kade.

Saying 135 pitches is a lot isn’t a criticism or a negative. It is just a lot of pitches. Interpret that how you want

Why did you leave off the adjective "obscene" this time?
