I'm so tired of this argument...we make excuses for Les. If we would have beat Alabama and lost to Arkansas the argument would be that they had a "letdown" game or a "hangover". It never ends.
Me too friend. To be honest I've never been a fan of Miles. I'm a fan of LSU. We could have done better.
Kyle Whittingham was floating around about the same time time we hired Les. Where would be today , who knows ?
The thing that really wears on me is the " who could we hire better" crowd. Damn, we're LSU !
I could ask that pretty girl for a date, but she'd probably turn me down.

So what you are saying is accept the fact we will rarely if ever beam ALA- This means we accept we may rarely if ever win the west, SECCG and a NC. So you are willing to be just a good program not the best program?

You do realize we as a program have three natty's in oh I don't know 120 yrs?!
This, this, 1,000 times this. What makes people think LSU is "entitled" to be the best football program in the country? It's downright laughable. There are so many more programs across the country who have far more history than we do and the means to accomplish more. Bama lucked into Saban, but they are far more steeped in history and tradition as a football powerhouse than we are. Ditto Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, etc.
Saban was an up and comer (and far more of those types have failed elsewhere) who put us on the map, and he (like most coaches would) moved on when the opportunity presented itself. Les Miles stepped in and kept us relevant. When Les is gone, more than likely we'll go back to our historical position of an occasional top 20 team. The only way we continue our success is to luck into another Saban, and look how many great programs have attempted this and failed miserably. Even with Les' historical run of success, we average around a Top 7 recruiting class. And that's about what we've averaged over the years. As I've said before, set the criteria for what the coach must accomplish to keep you happy, and THEN ask yourself how many coaches have actually accomplished your set of criteria.

If he loses out, we are 8-8 in the conference in the last two years. Are you really telling me that with the talent we have here, nobody could do better than 8-8. If so, let's change our name to Ole Miss or Mississippi State so we stop confusing the nation into thinking we are a top 10 program.

Do people realize how many years we'd have to out-recruit Saban before we are realistically a better program? What coach will step in and immediately beat Saban bad enough to turn the tide in recruiting?
If anything, a legit argument can only be made to replace the OC and force Les to let the guy have free rein.

this is a joke. Meyer left Florida because Saban made him quit. Without Tebow Meyer was just another average coach in the SEC. He got out before his value went down.
And now he's doing great at a 3rd school.

Meyer made Saban's team quit in the playoffs.

Dead serious.
Miles is incapable of allowing any changes to his scheme. Even if he did as you say as soon as he gets some success and credibility back, he will revert to the Bo playbook.
We have been through more than enough OC's directed and accountable to Miles, can't keep doing the same thing over and over without results.

Do you still live in the delusion that we're gonna beat ole miss?
Freeze is an offensive x/o's guy with 2 weeks to prepare for the Steele curtain (lmao)
The same screens, end arounds, reverses and "la la loopsies " (or whatever les called it) are coming.
Their front and lb'ers are good and will key on our rugby scrum offense.
The only chance our o line has in protecting Harris is if Nkemdiche is still hobbled.
Even then, our jump passes only go so far. Although, their secondary does suck. I don't know if passes into their helmets will be taking advantage of that.
I almost left out the part where their offense will begin every drive at their own 40 or beyond.
I could be way off here. Especially if in the past 7 days, les "got this fixed".

Dinardo recruited well. Only problem was very few of them actually made it to campus.

there was some attrition, but he still signed outstanding players in every class.

How good was his recruiting at Ok. st.?
Rivals only lets you go back as far as 2002:
2002: 25th class
2003: 15th class
2004: 27th class
so we have 3 top 30 classes at Oklahoma St, a school that is dwarfed by OU. So to answer your question: He was damn fine at recruiting at OK St.
