Are we stringing Canada along, while waiting for Sark?

Sark fits the bill for everything O wants; "USC offense", bigtime hire (might be a better move than Kiffin would have been), former colleague.
Problem is, he's currently employed by the Falcons. Now, there's some rumor that if Atlanta doesn't make the playoffs, he's out... and there aren't many other jobs out there for him to fall into. He'd likely take the LSU gig, IF he's looking for work.
Like others have mentioned in other threads, there isn't any real news of Canada being out, just rumors running rampant. He hasn't landed the HC job he wanted, and wants to return. Whatever problems there was between him and O sure seemed to be smoothed over the 2nd half of the season, it sure seemed like they turned the page.
If we're hoping to snag Sark, it makes sense for LSU to remain silent (sends him a message that the job is there for him). Remaining silent also leaves the door open to retain Canada (again, not many jobs available to fall into) another year.
Anyone else get this impression?

It was up for hours why whack it now

It would be awesome we could have real sark after dark threads on here.

Getting Sark would be a coupe of sorts, and I'm hopeful it'll happen. Sark and his prostyle formations will put Canada's jet sweeps to sleep.

No way Sark comes here.
Nothing major left in college. There will be moves in the NFL, but the truth is, Atlanta did have a pretty big drop-off under him, he doesn't have a ton of ties in the league, and he's still in the process of rebuilding his reputation. LSU would be a damn nice safety net.
Now, how long would he stay is another question, but honestly, if he said he would stay through the remainder of Brennan's career, that's intriguing.

He openly said this? Link?

Yeah Sark is gonna leave the Atlanta Falcons to work under Farmer Fran. Seems legit.

I’m gonna let everyone here in on a secret...Sark went to the Spread once he transitioned from Washington to SC.
Go google some Cody Kessler tape

Quality response troll. It's highly unlikely Sark will be with the Falcons next year.

I have no clue, I'm just speculating
quote:Again, the rumor out there is that if Atlanta loses and misses the playoffs, he's going to get fired. Atlanta brought him in, and Ryan had a huge dropoff from last year; and the Falcons would be going from having (blowing) a huge lead in the Super Bowl, to finishing 3rd in the division and out of the playoffs.

It isn't a big reach to think there will be repercussions for that. Heads are probably

Sark ain't coming here. If he goes anywhere, it's back out west.

They had a similar big drop off in production when Shanahan was hired. Reading up on this whole Sark situation over the past 24 hours I'm not convinced they fire him, playoffs or not.

It looked pretty variable to me. Lots of shotgun and some rpo, but also some under center and I form.

quote:And really no other college jobs out there; we'd be "making an opening" just for him. He does have some connections with O via USC, right? With LSU paying him a nice bit of cash, and O trying to get the gang back together, LSU might be preferable to waiting for an NFL call that might not come.

If he holds out for that and doesn't land a gig, he's then looking at returning to Bama as Saban's "shadow staff" again, for pennies on the dollar.
If all this comes about, then I think Canada just got caught up in the wash, he just wouldn't have been the preferred choice, through no fault of his own. We might offer him an assistant job to be nice, and wish him well when he declines the demotion.

Sark after dark would be so amazing.

Imo there are few coaches O wants to hire. 3 are currently employed: Pete, Lane and Sark leaving Freeze as the only option.
