Manning and it's not even close, mainly because of the nature of the LSU/Ole Miss rivalry which was pretty intense in the late '60's.

Funny how those skills came in handy during his pro career...

You mean the career he spent with the Saints literally running for his life?

Manning, because both were national powers at the time of the rivalry.

Jon Bond....they were terrible except when they played us

In this regard, how about Mike McKay from Tulane? Surfer boy beat us two years in a row in the early 80's, when LSU was decent..That was during the horrible years from 79-83 when Tulane beat LSU 3 of 4 years...and those losers still fired Vince Gibson as coach!

I would take Bond first. He was 4-0 against LSU. Wuerfel had a much better team. LSU beat Tebow and Manning. Bond put on an option clinic everytime he played LSU.

Manning. No doubt. I think Tebow will go down in history as one of the greatest of all time, but Manning was a master at his craft. Throwing, running, faking hand offs, avoiding sacks, throwing on the run. He had it all.

Correct. He had a huge impact on the games and constantly confounded the D.

Everytime Darren Mcfadden got the ball I cringed like a little girl.

If my memory serves me correctly, they gave John Bond a couple of extra years of eligibility, and he actually beat us 6 years in a row. At least that's the way I seem to remember it in my recurrent nightmares.

Archie Manning. I saw them both and Manning would have won 2-Hiesman trophies had the not been the national issue of Civil Rights. Tebow was great, but Archie, for his time, was the better of the two.

also recall that Archie hurt his hopes of winning the trophy when his arm was broken against Bama his last year. He didn't come back until the final game of the year which was against LSU. That was the only game of the 3 years he played we beat them.

I doubt that. I think Steve Walsh disagrees. Miami beat the crap out of us in the rain. There have been a few better than tebow imo.

YA Tittle, Bert Jones, Peyton Manning all say
Peyton never played here, and I don't think we faced him away either. In fact, that brings up an issue about the SEC schedule, and why they need to change it to get a true sampling of the SEC teams. We never saw Herschel Walker against LSU either. Not sure if Bo Jackson played here, but I don't think so.

in my opinion, I'd say all 3 of those guys are better than any opposing player we've ever faced, and it's a damn shame they were in our conference and we still missed getting to see them.

I will say Manning. Some still have it in for him 40 years later.

John Bond. I wish nobody had prompted that memory! Guy was All-Universe against us, and yet a backup probably in neighborhood backyard games otherwise
