The BIG mistake that you are making here is that matchups and mental preparation determine the way a game plays out. That is why none of your comparisons are useful.
Appy's offensive plan vs Michigan's defense was a good matchup. Combine that with the first game of the season and Michigan not being ready to play football, and you get a huge upset. It also explains the UM win over UF.
LSU under THE HAT has really never failed to come out focused and play hard. LSU's defensive matchup against ASU offense is quite good. LSU's offensive matchup against ASU's defense is downright SCARY. And ASU won't be a sandwich game for LSU this year.
Remind me again how many starting QB's LSU kept from finishing games last year? Heck, we even banged up the Heisman trophy winner. Also, remind me who ASU's leading rusher was last year? Not a good combination for a season opener if you're an ASU football team....

I've been an LSU fan my entire life and I love the passion LSU fans have for their Tigers. But let's think about how this post for a second.
"I live up here in Asheville, NC." Are you suprised that you're hearing this if you live in Asheville?
"some chick from ASU" I think it would be fair to say that, although some "chicks" are fairly astute football fans, most of them run on emotion and not facts.

"LSU could whip Michigan's arse with our second string. Give it up, sweetie." I would think really hard before putting any serious money on our second string whipping Michigan on any given day. They may have been bad last year, but you're talking about a team with a storied reputation.
"This Appy State stuff up here is getting thick. They're about as annoying as Notre Dame, Tennessee, and Bama fans." How can you even use Appy State in the same sentence with these schools?
My point is, I see a lot of proud LSU fans enjoying our recent success, and that's a good thing. But let's show some class. Particularly when dealing with fans from a school like Appy State. Let them crow! The game will tell the tale.
