Friday afternoon chilling on the back patio at Library with some beers and people watching into the night is pretty fun, plus you skip the obnoxious night time cover charge. Funky's is a good time as well.
Ole Miss golf course if fun for people not used to elevation changes, but good luck getting on on a game weekend, especially that one.

Arrive at kickoff and GTFO...seriously I have been through the area when working but never stopped. I had some friends with a Reggae Band back in the day that sometimes played at Proud Larry's as well as some a few really good JA bands so it can't be all bad?

Lots of insecurity in this thread. I lived there for eight years and loved it. Only left for a better job. Get over the fact we don't like UM but at the same time can recognize a beautiful town.
Now, honestly, gameday weekends are the WORST. Traffic will be awful, covers will be high, wait times extensive, etc. I would never stay in town for game weekends, instead I would make bank renting my Airbnb out and using that money to for something else.
With that said, restaurants are awesome, lots of drink spots, and some cool spots like boutiques, book store, Faulkner's home, etc. I just don't see you liking it that weekend because you won't be able to do them.

It's actually a ton of fun and MORE fun on non-football weekends. Those get way too crowded.
Good restaurants, fun bars, good live music. Just walk around the square and go in and out of places.

Oxford is awesome. I did a few years there for my graduate degree (obviously wore LSU gear to the grove every game day -- these colors don't run), and I'd highly recommend you go if you can.
Try to get a balcony spot on Friday if you can. I'd recommend Boure if you can. It's got the most space. City Grocery is my personal favorite, but the quarters are tight. Shoot to go there for drinks at night instead if you can, although the line might be long.
For food, any of the below are great options:
- Ajax (awesome southern comfort food -- I prefer the chicken fried steak or meatloaf, but you can't go wrong with anything, and the John Daly's are killer)
- City Grocery (elevated Southern food, and you'd need a reservation).
- Lenora's (good Italian food, especially the Chicken Parm)
- South Depot (fast casual taco spot on the square; you won't need a reservation)
- Saint Leo (a good pizza and pasta place with good cocktails)
- Blind Pig (really good sandwiches and bar food)
- Proud Larry's (good bar food and live music)
- Taylor Grocery is a way's out of town, but it's got fantastic catfish and you can brown bag, which is always fun. The wait might be long, but people tailgate and bring their own beers. It's fun if you don't mind killing time.
Bars
- City Grocery's upstairs bar is small but top notch. The head bartender Coonie is a big LSU fan.
- The Library is an iconic massive bar, but try to get a wristband early if you can. The cover can get up to $100 or more on weekends.
- I've heard the Velvet Ditch is fun, but I haven't been there
- Rafter's has a good set up, as it's pretty big with nice TVs
- Roundtable has a good outdoor area
- Funky's is a great spot. It's got decent pizza, but you'll really want to go for the daquiris -- have a Taylor Swift.
- The Yard at Harrison's is another good option. Lots of outdoor space.
As you can tell, I'm really fond of Oxford, even if I can't stand the Rebs. Make the trip if you can, although maybe ditch your friend. If she can't have fun there, she's the problem.
Agree with all of this and also add look at The Lyric for music playing the weekend you go.

We all know you talk to dudes. And 100% sure you won't be at the game.

If you like to fish hire a guide on Grenada, Sardis, or Enid all three are great fisheries.

As an Oxford resident, all of the suggestions here are good ones. Just keep in mind, there will be more people (like WAY more) in this little town that weekend than ever before, and most of these places will be completely packed out and have enormous covers. Come and enjoy a game-free weekend. It’s a great town.

Go out to eat, perhaps.

If you can't find anything to do in Oxford, Memphis is about 45 mins away
