agreed,
the more these things get exposed the more I wonder if the majority of the attrition miles has experienced was him running off the bad apples or potential issues. If so it says a lot about assessing talent and then testing the character. If correct it's one heck of a risk.

A basketball school that's ranked in the top 10 in football. You forgot about that little point.
How can I forget something that hasn't or isn't happening. They are not ranked in the top 10 in football.

but for your arguement if they were in the top ten then yes it would be more reason to wish Davis was here over Miles.

However, they ARE ranked 18th. 3 above #21 LSU.

Never have been a Davis fan, don't know where all the love comes from. Outside of Miami, he hasn't been stellar. Feel the same about Kelly at ND.

Agree with Davis, but Kelly has been phenomenal everywhere he's been.

He went to three straight Div. II National Championships before Central Michigan.

He took a Central Michigan program that hadn't won three games a year for the four previous years and went:

4-7
6-5
9-4

Then went to a horrid Cincinnati team and went:

10-3
11-3
12-0

in three consecutive years.

Curly Hallman was pretty good before he got to LSU. UF exposed Cincy. Didn't matter if Kelly was not present. Kelly may be awesome but he may flop on the big scene. He is still unproven at the elite level.

If he can win 9 games a year with Notre Dame, it will be a success.

I hear that they are all interested in the job.

I dont know about this. Right after he left Miami, players wre getting shot after practice. Everyone was calling them thug U and what not. I think Butch is an excellent game time coach, but does he run a clean program..... ehh.

Nice try pal. Butch Davis' final season at Miami was 2000. These shootings occurred in 2006. I'll even post a link for you. You're welcome. However that article does state that one player was killed in 1996, which I believe fell within Davis' tenure. However that particular murder involved being bludgeoned to death and slash with a knife.

Cincy wasn't horrid. Mark Dantonio had a winning season 2 out of 3 years there.

No, we didn't. It was some kind of recruiting violation on a JC kid that never played a down. Coach responsible was canned and violation was self reported. Nothing like the massive cheating that has gone on at NC. Not even in the same universe.

It did involve the assistant coach helping the player with rent off-campus. It was self-reported just as the issues that arose during Saban's tenure were. You can't totally eliminate the wrong-doing but it does appear that LSU learned a hard lesson from the Lester Earl scandal of the '90's. A strong self-policing effort pays big dividends. It should be mentioned that some of the UNC issues were also self-reported.

Horrid was probably the wrong word. Incredible average is better - 7-5, 4-7, 7-5

I'm not happy thAt Miles was hired. I didn't want Davis either. We have underachieved with Miles here, despite his three seasons of double digit wins. On another matter,

No, you are the crazy one for saying it does. It doesn't go on everywhere you jackass.

This poster lives in an idyllic world of idealism. Nothing about that quote represents realism. Certainly cheating goes on everywhere. The key is not to get caught or call attention to it. LSU has dodged an NCAA bullet more than once, but took a direct hit in the Lester Earl fiasco.

No one is crazy. You are just very naive if you truly don't think this stuff goes on EVERYWHERE! I have a buddy who played JUCO ball for a few years and he said even they got "benefits", so if you think it doesn't happen at literally every single school, especially the big time programs, you need to take your head out of the sand. The difference is some are just better at not getting caught. I'm not saying every coach at every participates in providing benefits, but most of them would just rather not know what's going on behind the scenes if you know what I'm saying.
